Spoilers Who is Captain Lorca?

Silly, silly people. Discovery IS the (or a) mirror universe. When we see the "mirror universe" in the episode it's going to appear in, it will be the universe we know and love, with Constitution class starships, not as advanced tech, etc....
Then why are the ships USS and not ISS?

It's not like that's difficult to change....
No it wouldn't but I can't see them doing it fleet wide just because. They were ISS during ENT and TOS so why would DIS be any different? Also they talk about Starfleet and the Federation and not the Terran Empire.

This theory is interesting but doesn't really make sense from a narrative perspective. Why would we care if he was from the MU if we didn't even know the real Lorca? Think back to when Bashir was replaced in DS9; the impact then was huge when we found out because we already knew (and loved) the character. Doing to same to Lorca would leave zero impact on the viewer.

Personally, I have strongly believed from before the series aired that Gabriel = Garth.

Well I guess the only way we will know for sure is if, or when, they explain it. But I can understand some of the comments here as this series is taking a lot of liberties with the established Star Trek Universe.

HOWEVER as long as it isn't the Kelvin universe which I can't stand to watch.
