And Sharon D Clarke in a recurring role... As Ryan's Mum? Or possibly a new UNIT liaison since Jodie will look too similar to Jemma Redgrave in long shots (assuming she's keeping the blonde hair)? Or Missy Mark Two?

Two points.
Firstly (and I know how this is going to sound) but lined up like that they do look like they were chosen by committee. In my defence if you swapped Walsh for someone like Meera Syal or Paterson Joseph I'd actually prefer it.
Secondly, and I said this when it was first rumoured, but for me pairing the first female Doctor with a white bloke who's older and better known that her suggests a lack of faith.

As a foreigner who watches the show from Greece, I've no idea who this Bradley bloke is. Thus, Whitaker is more well known to me. Thus, not sure how much of a lack of faith there is there.
Sure, I get that. I'm just relaying the experience of a guy who knows Whittaker but not Walsh because I saw her in a program that is known around these parts too.
Daisy Ridley managed just fine alongside Harrison Ford and unlike Jodie she had basically no experience.
And given the truckload of cash ITV pay him I'm still not convinced we're going to be seeing Walsh in every episode anyway.
She really does look a lot like Jemma Redgrave, who was introduced by Chibnall in The Power of Three.
I like the crowded Tardis model very much.
As I mentioned in the Jodie Whittaker thread, I'm thrilled by both the casting of Bradley Walsh (I loved him in Law & Order: UK) and multiple companions! But not just multiple companions, but two male companions and one of them is the old enough to remember watching William Hartnell while growing up.
I really hope one of the companions is not from contemporary England. Please give us some variety on that front! But I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, I know nothing about Bradley Walsh, so I don't see him as overshadowing Jodie Whitaker. The teaming the first female Doctor with an older white male companion thing might have been an issue if this was just Doctor and companion, but as they're going with a TARDIS team of multiple companions, neither of whom are white, and one of whom is another female, I think we have a diverse enough team to get away with having one white male there.
Man.. you sure have a problem with older white blokes.. you said the same thing in the Jodie Whittaker is the doctor post..sheesh! give it a rest.. is it because you are worried Jodie can't toe the line?? If you have faith in her as the Doctor (which I do not) then you shouldn't have an issue with a "older White Bloke" playing the companion..
Another thing Stark.. if you switched White with any other colour, you'd be called a racist.. I guess as is, it's okay.. (Rolls Eyes)
This is making me feel a lot better about Chibnall as showrunner. When the rumours first started about Jodie Whittaker being the Doctor, I thought, that makes so much sense -- she's a damn good actor, she has experience working with Chibnall, she's coming off a really popular TV show. And when I heard the rumours some time ago about Walsh, I had some similar thoughts, and I'm looking forward to seeing him in the show. I'm not familiar with the other two, but Broadchurch showed Chibnall can bring together a good cast.
And for any Canadians in the room: you could do worse than get addicted to Corrie, every weeknight on CBC, omnibus editions on Sundays. A lot of Coronation Street actors have appeared in Doctor Who/Sarah Jane Adventures/Torchwood/Class over the years, not just Walsh. Hell, Craig Charles from Red Dwarf was a regular for years, and his character was great. So was Ian McKellen's short-term guest star character. And maybe it's just me, but northern accents are a lot easier to follow than some London accents.

I got the feeling one of the three new companions is going to pull an Indira Varma in 'Torchwood' - in that they'll be heavily advertised as a companion only for some first episode 'twist' to take them out of the ballgame. A fun way to keep the fans on their toes though, in this era of post-GoT no character is safe deal, it kinda is expected! lol

Unrelated to Walsh, I can't see us here getting hooked on that- my wife was MCing Paul Sinha from that show at the weekend (he was doing a standup set) and found him to be a rude (backstage, not part of the act) misogynistic douchebag.
