I am liking the relationship between Lorca and Cornwell. I like seeing friendships between Captains and Admirals. I liked it in DS9, with Sisko and Ross. The admirals are not just a rando giving orders - they are individuals who have a history with the captain.

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like he's been subjected to the de-aging special effects used on Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellan in X-Men 3

That is not Airiam. There is white around her nose and mouth; however, the area around her eyes is gray.
