"Choose Your Pain" Klingon ship (Visual spoilers?)

When did we ever see Kelvin-verse D7s?

Kor

During the Kobayashi Maru test simulation Kirk reprogrammed to win. The D7s are attacking the Kobayashi Maru and are destroyed by Kirk in the scenario.

That shirt totally needs collars so large that they could be used for commercial aviation. And it should be knotted at the waist.

It's amazing to me that there are some folks on here so stubborn they can't even admit there can be valid differences of opinion. Enjoy your trolling. You truly are masters of the universe.

COMPUTER VOICE:
"Incoming warp signature detected. Klingon class D7 battle cruiser identified."

ME:
"Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!"

(20 seconds later)

ME:
"FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"
Pretty much this.

And I have to wonder what they were thinking. Name dropping D7 is completely meaningless to casual viewers. People who care about it being 'D7' are probably the same people who want to actually see classic D7 or something very close to it.

Yeah, exactly. Name drops are fan service. Showing just a franction of the ship, and that fraction looking all "blaeh" is an even bigger fan disservice. Fuck that.

I love the original D7 design, but when I saw a totally different ship called a D7 I wasn't surprised one bit.

I mean, the Klingons themselves, all the ships we've seen and the sets are completely different to what we've seen before. Change all that but not this specific design? Change the uniforms and technology and ship design of Starfleet but keep this one thing? Wishful thinking.

Yep. My reaction as well, and I also agree with Longinus that the only ones who would care what it looks like are the ones who know what a D7 is.

But like I said, Discoverse Theory resolves all of this. We're already watching Mirror Universe episodes, not the evil-twin Mirror Universe, but one that closely parallels Prime. Captain Lorca, and I suspect Landry, come from either Prime, or the evil-twin universe and all the realities will get tangled up with the plot before the season is done.

You're right. I'm generally not a big fan of Trek ships, but I did want to see a modern take on the classic design, which is what the warbird from "Into Darkness" was, for example.

This however looked like some random generic starship, completely unremarkable. I hope we get to actually see the whole thing at some point, so we can at least revel in its meh-ness properly.

Especially as we get at least one vanity shot of the Discovery in each episode.

Would have been great to get the same kind of panning shots of an updated Klingon D7.

Considering that this show isn’t even remotely close to what we know as the “Prime” universe, what makes one think that the “Mirror” universe as presented in DSC will be remotely the same as what we saw in TOS/DS9?
