Starfleet pajamas

Well considering "Fucking Awesome" is on the table, then I think some nudity is most definitely possible in STD. Bring on some T&A (but can we start with some T first? :D)

I think Enterprise fulfilled the franchise's nudity-quota for a lifetime. Just how MANY scenes in the decon chamber did we have to sit through?

Do I really need to send you some pictures of what "Nudity" is? ENT probably got close a few times (NOT in Decon chamber scenes) but it was not actual nudity:

Ah good old UPN, pushing the "boundaries" :D

It's surprising that advanced, evolved humans of the future still have our primitive notions of modesty and feel the need to wear clothes at all
Gene Roddenberry! You're alive!

I dont mind the idea of uniform pajamas, but sleeping with a metal badge doesnt sound comfortable. Maybe Bert and Ernie take the badges off before lights out.
That's the bit that got me, the metal badge. Silkscreen that shit.

In TNG they always had their commbadge on the nightstand next to the bed. We see them pick it up during the night a few times. Not sure if DS9 and VGR did the same.

My thought is it's just something that's available, that a crewmember can purchase if they want to.

Purchase? I thought there was no money in the Federation. (runs for cover).

I can imagine Riker prowling the corridors at night making sure crew members are wearing the regulated sleepwear, in between carrying out his beloved crew evaluation reports.

Especially the female crew members. :naughty:

Bert and Ernie? I'm not sure if that is demeaning or not ...
I didn't mean it in a demeaning way. I'm starting to get a very Sesame street feel for the show.
Stamets: Bert
The medical guy: Ernie
Burnham: Oscar the Grouch
Lorca: Fortune Cookie Monster
The Tardigrade: Snuffluffagus
Tilly: Zoe
Saru: Big Bird
I have not identified Elmo,yet.

Loved the PJs. I'd wear em! Providing the badge isn't metal. Maybe it's rubber/soft? Toothbrush was a nice tough too. Subtle and recognisable.

This is great - Saru is definitely Big Bird. I wonder about Burnham...she isn't vindictive like Oscar. Or is she?

I'm surprised this whole thread has gone without a mention of apparently-mandatory standard-issue blue Starfleet undies in Enterprise as precedent. And even bringing up the decon chamber!

It just goes to show you; as far as Starfleet is concerned, freedom and individual self-determination is for the aliens whose machine-god you destroy, not for your junk.

I think sleeping naked would be impractical for Starfleet as crewmembers always have to be reachable through their commbadges at all hours. They can attach their commbadges to their pajamas, but if they sleep naked their only option would be to leave the commbadge on the bedside table like a common cell phone.

That's what pretty much everyone on Voyager does, if I remember correctly.
But yeah, they don't have commbadges anyway, so it doesn't make a difference.

IIRC, Tuvok is the only person in Trek history who canonically sleeps naked.

Except when he sleeps in his full uniform, as in "Flashback".

Although that was

a) a feverish dream, and
b) an alert situation, with the characters in readiness of some sort, even if down on Deck 7.

Wasn't Kim wearing pyjamas... and a blindfold in bed when Paris snuck into his room and dragged him out...

I can't actually remember which episode (though it was a fairly early one), or what his reason was, but I'm sure it happened. Could be wrong about the pyjamas, but I don't remember him being naked.

I didn't mean that they're all naked  Not at all!
I was referring to the commbadges being worn while sleeping. Because I haven't seen that on Voyager - I think.
