Starfleet pajamas

Stamets and Culber seemed to be wearing matching Starfleet issue pajamas. Do you think Starfleet's uniform code extends even to the bedroom or were those pajamas of a more optional-wear variety? Does Saru have a similar pair? I can't imagine Lorca wearing them.

They were also seen cleaning their teeth. Just how futuristic do you think those toothbrushes were? Did anyone see any actual bristles or do you suppose they were sleek point-and-clean devices? Makes you wonder to what extent certain technology evolves over time. Perhaps some things, like toothbrushes, have been improved as much as they can already.

As an endnote, I'd definitely buy a pair of those pajamas.

If there was a regulation about what sleepwear to use, it would be pretty damn hard to enforce.
My thought is it's just something that's available, that a crewmember can purchase if they want to. Completely up to the individual. I may be wrong, since I've never served in the military, but I think the modern military has similar items, such as government issue underwear and such.

Real armies and navies have standard-issue pajamas. And Starfleet does, too. But as we've seen in other Trek, if somebody chooses to bring along their own pajamas, then apparently that's okay.

Sad people who have to conform. Or live with people who aren't so forgiving of seeing their bare asses.

I think sleeping naked would be impractical for Starfleet as crewmembers always have to be reachable through their commbadges at all hours. They can attach their commbadges to their pajamas, but if they sleep naked their only option would be to leave the commbadge on the bedside table like a common cell phone.

Pffft, DISCO™ has loads of augmented characters. They should have viewscreens inside their eyelids.

These crewmen don't have Combadges yet no?

It's surprising that advanced, evolved humans of the future still have our primitive notions of modesty and feel the need to wear clothes at all.

Of course, uniforms have a practical protective purpose in various environments. But when off-duty in their quarters or the rec room? Pffft.

Why DON'T these guys sleep naked?

Some people just enjoy wearing clothes, and/or just feel more physically comfortable in 'em. People can have rather quirky sleep habits (i.e. prefer music playing, can't sleep if the temperature isn't right, get woken up by severe weather, etc.) and thus some may not be able to sleep if they don't (or do) have clothes on.

@Kor... for my thoughts on a "naked society" in general, I'll refer y'all to my earlier post. (in other words, "do not want".)

I dont mind the idea of uniform pajamas, but sleeping with a metal badge doesnt sound comfortable. Maybe Bert and Ernie take the badges off before lights out.

They've got basic replicators that produce uniforms on the spot, it makes sense they'd have other clothing options available.
