Help me understand the situation with the Klingons and the war

I know, and that was pretty stupid too. Logically, the Federation should be the United States to the Klingons' Imperial Japan. Sure, Japan got a few licks in but they never really stood a chance.
Why should it logically be so? The Klingon Empire is much older than the Federation, they've had plenty of time to acquire territories.

But they're all at the same level of technology, which doesn't make any sense. If the Klingons have been stagnant that long, they should have either conquered known space by now or have been hopelessly outmatched by the Federation technologically. But then again, nothing in Star Trek makes sense when it comes to the galactic political situation so I guess the Empire can compete because it can.

Federation technology is probably largely influenced by the, vulcans, andorians and tellarites. They were all depicted as being more advanced than Earth but on par with or slightly more advanced than the Klingons in Enterprise

Probably, but with four advanced societies the technological gap with the Klingons would only widen. Add hundreds and the Klingons would never catch up. The Klingons may use their conquered worlds as fodder for new technologies but I feel like the Federation would never ally with them if so. But who knows? They did. Maybe the Federation just kind of sucks.

The Klingon science and technology class are the unsung heroes of the Empire.

Nothing about the Klingons has ever made sense, especially in TNG when they became solely focused on honour and being warriors. They're depicted as being so derisive of science that it begs the question how they became an advanced society at all.

No society is truly stagnant. One generation may value innovation and another may ignore it. The Klingons remind me of the evolution of Japanese society from the time of the Shogunate to the Meji period to the end of WWII. During the Shogunate and Meji periods, the Japanese embraced innovation but then after WWI their society started to stagnate after the military class became obsessed with the "Way of the Warrior" nonsense which coincided with the rise of nationalism.

The Klingons seemed more technologically innovative during the late 23rd century, considering they developed a bird of prey that could fire while cloaked. They were portrayed as relatively stagnant during the TNG/DS9 era. Hence why i used that period as an example. Deep Space Nine explored the concept of Klingon nationalism and stagnation to greater effect than TNG did. Both Worf and Dax talk about how the Empire has lost it's identity, Dax even says that it needs to die to evolve

TNG's portrayal gets a lot of flack but I remind you two of the characters we meet are a Klingon Exobiologist and a Klingon Fleet Engineer.

Didn't worf make a disparaging remark to J'dan about being a scientist, before it was found out that he was a traitor?

This isn't a complaint specific to Discovery, but in universe, why doesn't the Federation just wipe the Klingons off the map whenever they fight? You'd think with the combined power of hundreds of worlds they'd easily be the number one power in the quadrant by far.

The Organians basically said the Klingon Empire is every bit as powerful as the Federation and should the two ever fight, they'd just wipe each other out so that's why they were intervening.

The Klingons in the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine get a lot of flack but they utterly crushed the Cardassians (who held off the Federation) in a matter of days and were a major part of why the Dominion didn't role over the Alpha Quadrant.

We also see a single house of them in Discovery manage to decimate a Federation fleet. In an alternate timeline, they crush the Federation and conquer it.

In short, this series can only end with the destruction of the hated Federation and the triumph of Kronos.

:)
