MLB 2017: The Yankees are dead, Yankees burn in hell

At least Sterling enjoys what he's doing. As corny as he is, I'll take that over somebody like Buck who is obviously just phoning it in (and who is not, in fact, a baseball fan).

Antenna? How quaint.

I really don't understand your scorn. Digital antennas are dirt-cheap, the OTA signals are miles better than cable in terms of picture quality, and you get a crap-ton of sub-channels. Even on a gray day like today in Madison, I get around forty or so channels, including three public television stations. Between that, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix, I have no need for cable. And, yes, that means I can watch the World Series live.

So, yeah, a $20 digital antenna isn't exactly a bad investment, nor is it some relic of days gone by.

I'm right there with ya. I have an HD antenna, Amazon Fire TV box, and fast internet. It's all I need. I'm pissed I can't watch the Astro's, but I'm not paying for a frigging cable box just to watch them.

I'm sad to see the Cubs fall into the 0-2 hole in the series, but kudos to the fan who caught Justin Turner's walk-off home run. That was pretty damn awesome.

The Mets are going to buy the Syracuse Chiefs, then move their Triple A team to here in 2019. The ballpark is really nice but the Chiefs have had terrible drawings fans. So this will hopefully change that. Since moving away from the NY/NJ area, the worst part was not being able to see the Mets play. I could hop on a train and be at Shea, I mean Citi-Field in 20 minuets.

The cable company that owns the Jays also owns their broadcast rights, so it is very difficult to find any negative comments on the Jays, which I find annoying. The team was brutal this year and the commentary was "Oh, everything is fine!" like that meme with the dog sipping tea with its house burning down around him. Long story short, I'd love to have impartial, baseball-knowledgable broadcast group.

WHY

WHY WAS JOHN LACKEY OUT THERE WHEN DAVIS WAS WARM
I guess the idea was Lackey could go longer innings if the game remained a tie. And Davis went longer than he ever has as a closer just a few days earlier.

I'm not saying that's the right thinking, just that's what Maddon was probably thinking.

Except Lackey has literally never pitched two days a row in his life, and he gave up the third-most home runs in baseball last year. It was the top of the order, and Turner in particular is clearly the most dangerous hitter on the Dodgers right now. Davis had a long outing Thursday, yes, but he had two days off and a guaranteed off day yesterday. As is always the case with these tie games on the road, you don't know how big a lead you'll need to protect anyway. What if Davis shut the Dodgers down in the 9th and Maeda gives up 3 in the 10th? Jansen, Morrow, and Watson were already out of the game at that point, so the Dodgers were down to platoon-heavy pitchers Maeda and Cingrani, and after that it gets much more shaky.

Taylor-Turner-Bellinger with the winning run in scoring position is the toughest spot imaginable for the Cubs at that point in the game, it's inexcusable not to use their best pitcher there.

And if Davis gave up the same homer? Less likely I know, but the fact the Cubs can't score runs to save their lives is a bigger problem right now.

Yeah, it would have sucked if Davis got hit, but given a choice between John goddamn Lackey and your best reliever, you go with the guy who has the best chance of giving your bats another chance.

You get no argument from me. I was just trying to get in Maddon's mindset, although I admit I forgot that Lackey had pitched the previous day.

I thought Dave Roberts was crazy not to pitch hit for Yu Darvish with the bases loaded and two outs when Roberts already had a reliever warming up...but then Carl Edwards, Jr. walked Darvish while he feigned bunting.
