"Choose Your Pain" Klingon ship (Visual spoilers?)

This is an awfully big detail to just get wrong. The D7 is almost as iconic as the original Enterprise. This was deliberate, and a clue. I think we're getting pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and it's starting to make a picture:

• We know there's not just one 'Mirror' episode coming, but several.
• Spore drive appears to be successful. Even the ethical problems have been solved. But that just can't be since there's nothing like it that is ever used again in Star Trek.
  
• Everything that appears out of whack will be explained by the time the season ends.
• Higher-ups have decreed 'no round nacelles' on Starfleet vessels.
• Uniforms that look like the original Cage attire were made and seen by visitors as hanging on racks, but aren't being used.
• Why even keep those uniforms out where visitors can see them?!
• Lorca is the only survivor from the U.S.S. Buron.

This entire series so far takes place not in the Mirror universe, but in a Mirror universe. Lorca comes from the Prime universe and replaced Discoverse's version after he died with his ship. The Lorca we see is stuck in the middle of a war between Starfleet and the Klingons that shouldn't be and he's trying to set things right or get back to his reality.

Don't know if it helps but the book Desperate Hours (which was worked on with input from the show staff) state that Cage-type uniforms are only used on Constellation class ships. It even mentions a lot of the design styles and quirks (no ready room, etc) are pretty specific to the Connie class.

Don't know if it helps but the book Desperate Hours (which was worked on with input from the show staff) state that Cage-type uniforms are only used on Constellation class ships. It even mentions a lot of the design styles and quirks (no ready room, etc) are pretty specific to the Connie class.

That's actually really cool...you could actually get your head wrapped around that a bit, especially given that the original Connies are really the production design outliers within the franchise.

Yes, exactly. They deliberately identified a ship that looks nothing like it a D7. And the episode ended with that mirror gag.

It now does not refer to a specific hullframe.

And I kind of take it from the fact it said Class first, not after, that classification was what it means now. Not a fixed type of ship.

And even if it did, this is the new D7 reimaged and redesigned with a lot of other things in this universe.

Several possibilities:

1. It was a D-7, but it was dark and close-up so we didn't really get a good look.

2. The ship shown later on in the show is NOT the D7. It's a Klingon prison ship. Unless I missed where they identified them as the same?

3. The database is incomplete on Klingon ship design, so the computer simply made the best visual match it could given the available information. The computer "identified" it as a D7, but that doesn't mean it was a D7. Have you ever played around with image recognition software?

I'm not, I don't care if they make it pink and inside out. I just thought they had tried something remotely creative for once and tried to make it sound like they had a rough classification because they knew shit about their hull designs.

Maybe that crazy rumour that CBS can't use the TOS designs in live action is true..

Nah, thats silly, if that were true the phasers and other gear would look a lot different.

That's exactly how I felt about it. I used to have dreams when I was a kid where I was watching a new Trek series or movie and everything was out of whack. I'd wake up grouchy after that; betrayed by my own subconscious because it *should* have known better.

But my idea rectifies the production team's betrayal. Be one with Discoverse Theory ... all is explained with it!
