Oh come on.Prime
To be fair re B-17s, most fighters they faced were Messerschmitts (109, 110, 210, 410, 262 and even rocket powered 163 was a Messerschmitt) or Fockewulfs (all the different 190 versions)Maybe Starfleet is getting like B-17 crews over Germany, and just calling everything that shoots at them a Messerschmitt or a Fokker, regardless of what it actually is. Or that every Japanese fighter is a Zero.
Reimagining™That’s a Klingon D-7 Class?
And this show is set in the Prime timeline and is not a reboot?![]()
Reimagining™
Oh come on.
I could live with the star fleet changes, and the other Klingon changes.
But not this. This isn’t remotely prime.
Though it is worth it to note, that this raider design was in the same concept art leak as the sarcophagus ship, last year, or when ever it was. I have a feeling it was meant to be paired with that ship.
Those are more or less fighters. Which actually make sense with trek tech level
The Maquis had raiders. So did the Bajoran resistance during the occupation. Then there are the Scorpion-class attack craft that Shinzon and the Remans keep stored aboard the Scimitar. This won't be the first small attack craft or fighter in the Trek universe by a longshot.
I agree with this in general... but I'm not sure about where to place the blame. Saying "the producers" are responsible is too broad (not least because there are a lot of them, and it's not clear who has what level of control over what kind of decisions, not to mention that that control has shifted over the show's development history).Yeah, I too have a big issue with the Shuttle computer identifying that ship as a 'Klingon D-7 Class'. I don't care what hand waving they do here - the producers seem to want this to be a full universe reboot; regardless of all the 'Trust us, irt'll all work out in the end canon wise.'
I still like the story and the show and it's not a deal-breaker; but intentionally screwing TOS fans who like the original hip designs just to maybe get a 'WTF?' moment - just stop. I get the set design elements and the Discovery and other ships we've never seen before, ok.
But the D-7 is an iconic ship design. If Starfleet 'updates' its classification at the end of this series, that just a big cop out for zero real reason other that"Hey, lets really screw with hardcore TOS fans just for the fun of it..."; and that sucks.
It annoys me that they go to the trouble of using the Klingon language, references, logo and sound effects and then liberally throw the rest out of the window. They brought in John Eaves to keep the Starfleet ship design lineage. But clearly whoever is designing the Klingon ships is not a fan of past Trek and so these abominations have no Klingon design lineage and just look like generic trash lifted from a random sci-fi movie. When I heard D7 and saw it was some dodgy mini Star Destroyer it really irked me. I get the feeling that the script writer intended a version of the D7 and then was overruled with this trash.Don't even get me started on those. In what universe is THIS a Klingon ship:
