Wow! The Mego "Neptunian", (an original-to-Mego action figure) from the 1970s "Star Trek" line, just made an appearance as the penal administrator of Neptune Station in IDW's current comic mini-series, "The Next Generation: Mirror Broken" (issue #4).

Meet Dr Teusta Fonn the Neptunian, a pioneer of the Mirror Universe's agonizer technology.

The "Mirror Broken" mini-series has been running for a few months now, since Free Comic Book Day, but the Neptunian only turned up last week. Still two more issues to go.

Wow, that is really cool! I love it when the books and comics bring back obscure parts of the franchise like that.

That is *sooo* obscure and therefore awesome! I wouldn't have gotten the reference myself, so thank you for mentioning it! :)

Thanks! One of the first emails I ever sent to a website was to correct a claim by some page curator who claimed that Mego's Neptunian was a character from Filmation's TAS. I didn't bother seeking out a Neptunian for my collection until the retro-release retooled the Gorn (Mego's original used the head mould for Marvel's villain, The Lizard, and put him in a Klingon uniform, but the new version looked like his "Arena" appearance) and it became obvious that a new Neptunian wasn't coming.

Stop press: Scott Tipton (co-writer) just sent me a message mentioning Teusta Fonn's guards, too. Another cool cameo.

Thanks for catching that! I had a tickle in the back of my mind that Fonn looked familiar. I think I dismissed as something from the Gold Key or Marvel 1 comics of days long past.

    Cool find!

Was that the Marvel Lizard that they used?

Wow, I didn't realize Mego did toys for so many popular franchises, I'd only ever heard of their Star Trek stuff. Obviously I knew they did more just Trek, but I just didn't realize how much else.
