Discovery doesn't get anywhere near Lexx silly.
Nah, I have an art degree, I'm just not completely scientifically illiterate.
I get the feeling the spore drive may still be in use in the 24th century, but is very rare and only section 31 uses it.
Perhaps not, though I think it's more that they are willing to bend and break principles behind the scenes when the existence of the Federation is threatened. Normally they don't have to. Starfleet does just fine on its own. But they also haven't been shown, apart from the Kelvin-verse, as having enough resources to have their own ships. They manipulate and nudge and whisper in the right ears, maybe even assassinate when The Sisko won't do it for them.Section 31 doesn't care about moral implications

It's been discussed to death in other threads how Bryan Fuller's favorite day is Halloween, but keep beating the Section 31 drum.NCC 1031

^^^It's "unique in its stupidity?" That's an engaging and intelligent position to take. Thank you.
For you to ignore such magical constructs as
Red Matter
Protomatter
Universal Translators
Transporters (and all the things we've seen transporters do, like de-age people, send people to an alternate universe, split people into good and evil, etc)
Genesis Devices
etc etc etc
...ilustrares your bias.
Isn't this twice you've tried to lecture me on the plausibility of scientific theories and realities? I'm assuming you have some kind of science credentials besides watching the Science Channel and reading Neil Degrasse Tyson books?

You forgot - Humanity creating a Utopia and every Human being eliminating racism and bigotry in 350 years...<--- Given the length and nature of recorded Human history; Star Trek fans actually believe this tenet of Berman era Star Trek believable?![]()
He and any others of his kind will leave this realm permanently with the message, "So long, and thanks for all the fungus."I predict that Ripper will make a permanent bond with the spores and together they will depart for parts unknown. Thus making the 'spore drive' useless, because there won't be any spores (or tardigrade) left to power it.
NCC 1031
How is that obvious? Why couldn't Ripper have bucked like a bronco in the harness or some such and that was the result?Ripper obviously didn't turn the Starfleet people into deformed puddles of flesh.
