Let's talk about the elephant in the room, this series violates Roddenberry's vision big time

I just feel like the full name of this series is:
Star Trek Discovery

while TNG was
The Next Generation

Thus, it's TNG and STD :)

Your "feeling" is inaccurate, as far as TNG goes--Star Trek: The Next Generation is what appears on screen every time I put the Blu-ray into the player.

[I don't really care what people use as acronyms, but I wanted to get into the pedantic argument for fun] :p

I'm aware, but It's never say it even think to say Star Trek The Next Generation. While Star Trek Discovery is the only way that works, saying just Discovery isn't specific enough.

That Trek has been gone for over twenty years.

TOS has been "gone" for how long now?
The series that tried to maintain that image lost audience and fans.

And was always criticized for being TNG-lite. Again, TNG the standard-bearer.
Certainly, Discovery needs to have some sort of better ethical and moral message than what is offered now...

That is what I'm arguing. That it update its ethics as it updates its production design. Drama and immorality aren't new, but a writer is judged by how well they present them. I judge a Trek series additionally by how well it presents ethics and aspiration. ...When it's done badly, it's eye-rolling; when it's done well, you're moved unlike with most entertainment; when it's not done at all, it's as forgettable as most entertainment.

Usually, yeah. :)

Mostly because I acronym them to non-STAR TREK fans.
And when acronyming for Star Trek fans?

ST: V, without context of whatever else you're writing, suggests TFF.

ST: D (not STD) is awkward without context, and eye-rolling with.

STD is just awkward. When it's not, for the show's detractors, petty.
