...that should be good enough for any reasonable person.
Superfan writers told me this all would line up. Why shouldn't I hold them to it?

Bye!Maybe I don't belong on a discussion board like this, because I'm clearly just not nerdy enough.
I hope based on fan complaints about these inconsistencies, a 3-episode arch is written to explain why the Enterprise doesn't have site-to-site transporters, another 2-parter to explain why the tech looks different than Enterprise, and a season long story to explain the different uniforms.

Because you're a reasonable person, who should be beyond such minutiae and subsequent pettiness.
Why start now?Superfan writers told me this all would line up. Why shouldn't I hold them to it?
Or they could have been honest and called it what it is, a reboot.
hahaha man this is hilarious watching you nerds squirm.
What's petty about holding someone to their word?
To be fair Spock said "Rarely" not "Never" or "only X times previously" .One time, twelve years later... in an emergency situation. Lorca orders it like it is a normal thing. Burnham doesn't come across as phased at all that it is ordered.
This isn't someone saying they won't cheat on you, or promise to pay you back some money, this is a childish squabble over the use of a minor bit of fictional technology in a Star Trek show.

IMO - Lorca is portrayed as 'crazy' enough to trust and use it on occasion.
I do love the DSC phaser and communicator designs. Then again, I'm always nostalgic for the classics. There is the potential for a more happy medium between total redesign and anal retentive conformity to 1960s design.
I would cite the redesigned phaser and communicator as examples of such.
Writers are highly paid liars.Just holding the writers to their own words.
Pet peeve. He does ask. They just refuse to answer. It'll be as dumb as Archer not asking the Ferengi who they are.
Pet peeve. He does ask. They just refuse to answer.
Since getting from there to here?Fair enough. Been a long time, (2002/2003?) since I've seen the episode.
Not sure that would need papering over. Some Captains will risk it,. Some wont. Seems simple enough. If that was it, I'd be fine. But, I imagine their papering over of continuity will be more along the lines of the ship and technology being lost and no one saved any copies of the files.
