Make me Janeway

If there was any post I'd make on a return to Trek BBS, I feel this is pretty much appropriate. Why come back for mundane talk like Discovery reviews?

I am going to play Captain Janeway. (Snatch Game if you're curious, and don't Google if you're at all easily offended.)

I have the uniform on route. This will be my first every cross-dressing experience. Where I'm struggling is a wig...

So I thought wisdom of the crowds, some helpful bods at Trek BBS... does anyone have any thoughts on a wig?

• Needs to be UK, or quick delivery from somewhere else.
• Needs to be cheap - this is one night only. £20 - £25 ish.
• Just need to be approximate - with the uniform, and it's a night with friends, doesn't need to be spot on.

If anyone has any ideas they are welcome, as I'm finding nothing that matches any of her eras.

ebay always has a ton of whatever you're looking for. Have you done a wig search there?

I know the US site allows me to filter to US only sellers. I'd imagine the UK site does the same.

Gosh, good for you going the Janeway route. You know there's the Janeway bun and the Janeway bob and the Janeway half up and half down. Even the evil Janeway short do. We have emporium, like cheapo dollar stores here, and there are often costume sections in those with dirt cheap wigs. They are kind of crappy but would be usable. You might even find one in a second hand shop. Could even try colouring one at a pinch, but as long as it's brownish.

First of all, I LOVE Snatch Game! Sometimes I wish they made it a full proper show in its own right.

Secondly, it really does depend on the Janeway style you want to go for. There were several distinct styles that could have quite generic wigs that might suit the look--depends on how good you are at styling them. If at all possible I'd say try to go with the classic multiple wig changes during the game, starting with the bun, then the ponytail and lastly the bob.

Hadn't thought about colouring, although that starts going into too much effort!

Glad you like it! I'm having trouble finding one wig... the thought of multiple hairstyles would be that much harder
