USA distribution -CBS All Access discussion

On the other hand, I think Trek fans buy a lot of merchandise, so I seriously doubt we'll ever see an official Trek production that doesn't get a home media release eventually.
This is likely true, although the exponential speed with which the technology is progressing these days means a tangible product will be a thing of the past (at some point anyway).

3 weeks guys. It's going to be big.

The cat couldn't care less about Discovery. That's a clear indication this show is gonna fail.

JUST JOKING!

The studios that produce and own the shows Netflix orders, are responsible for when they are released on disc. House of Cards' first season hit the disc market 6 months after it's debut, same timeframe as other pay tv and basic cable series have gotten. Sadly, no one in the entertainment press bothers to ask Disney home video why the Marvel shows take so long.

Forgive me if this has been covered already, but are those of us without cable able to watch the first episode on CBS All Access?

@RAMA what are you using to stream? Are you hooking up your PC directly to your TV? If I do actually pick up CBSAA I'd probably use it through one on my game systems. Have you heard if there's any appreciable quality difference between streaming apps?

Just out of curiosity, is it being shown in 4K on Netflix? Just yelling at the clouds at this point but I am really jealous of those furriners getting to watch it on my preferred platform.

I have a Roku. It's an older one and works fine. I also have the CBSAA on my phone because I will be doing some traveling in October, and also the Windows10 App. I don't see any appreciable difference except in the obvious one, that the smaller screens hide some of the compression..it's not as noticeable.

I have been asking people with Netflix in foreign countries about the menu and if 4k is available for DSC and so far I have NOT gotten a satisfactory answer!

I highly doubt CBS will allow a 4k UHD release until either season 2 debuts on CBSAA with a higher subscription fee for 4k streams or a 4k UHD Blu-ray release on physical media only but not on Netflix in 4k UHD. Maybe when season 2 ends they will allow 4k UHD for DSC on Netflix?

Ask your friends in their respective countries-that subbed to the 4 screen at a time plan (which includes 4k), to look for any US series that Netflix carried on a weekly basis (Gotham, Shadowhunters, the CW shows, etc), and check to see if they were available in 4k. That may offer some indication as to whether DSC will be as well. No guarantee though. :(
The full DSC show page-with episode listing, won't be added until the show debuts...at least, that's how things normally are handled.

VUDU is one of the big pushers of 4K Ultra HD content, and The Good Fight is only available in 1080p there.

Has anyone heard the time that episodes would be released. For example, 8:30 east coast time is 5:30 west coast time. So does that mean the episodes will be on all access at 6:30 west coast time? Also what about subsequent weeks? Is this a Sunday morning, afternoon or evening release date.

The Good Fight got new episodes overnight. Not sure exactly what time but whenever I got up Sunday morning the new episode was there to watch.

The night of the premier both the first 2 episodes should be available at least by the time the first episode ends but more likely when it starts. They want people to be able to immediately watch episode 2 once they finish the premier.

I found ONE person with the proper setup for 4K and he says that there is no way to tell except that the trailers are NOT 4k.

Streaming 4K won't ever be as good as Blu-Ray 4K.

Yes, but that's assuming Discovery ever sees the light of day on disc to begin with. As I pointed out above, The Good Fight is now available for purchase on VUDU, Amazon Video, et al., but discs are nowhere to be seen.
