Lack of advertising?

Phil123

I live in London UK and have just got back from New York, Los Angeles and West Florida.

It strikes me that there is a lack of marketing to the wider world about Discovery. In New York and Florida I only saw posters for the Orville, and only saw a few Disco billboards in LA. In London I've seen nothing. Hard to see how they'll successfully launch Disco and All Access when no one knows about it.

Anyone seen better presence elsewhere?

Nope, but I live in the far side of the world
What it really bothers me is the fact that some products (specially Dvds, BRDs) dont even come dubbed or subtitled... the international viewers (and fans that finally are those buy and spend their money) needed to be taken seriously, even we are not an army.

I don't watch enough TV to see any advertising. The only advertising I've been exposed to, I've been exposed to here, mainly.

I've not seen anything outside what I deliberately follow myself, such as TBBS and the CBS social media, or my equally nerdy Facebook friends. However, that's probably true of the vast majority of TV shows outside the main national broadcasters. Channel 4 or BBC tentpole shows will get advertisement. Sky will advertise Game of Thrones and its movie packages, that's about it. I wouldn't expect to encounter, say, Orphan Black advertisements, or Preacher.

I've seen more advertising for The Orville. But that is because I watch the local Fox affiliate for morning news.

I haven't seen much advertising either. If I didn't stay abreast of ST things I'd have no idea. I do hope they attract an audience though. I started my CBS all access subscription this past weekend. I had forgotten that Twilight Zone had been a CBS show, so I'll take the opportunity to expose my daughter to some old school black and white episodes.

And how many billboards or posters have you seen for other Netflix shows? I can't recall seeing any for the Defenders shows, or for Narcos, House of Cards or Orange is the New Black. And this is in Manchester. I wouldn't worry - am sure Netflix will blitz people with e-mails, articles in the Metro and so on closer to the time.

I see at least one ad a day on TV. Usually on CBS or during SF programming on other networks.

Nothing revealing. Just Star Trek-y snippets of Star Trek-y stuff and people doing a couple Star Trek-y things. Again.

Yeah, nothing new and certainly nothing unexpected.

The editing, at least, does make Burnham's space walk look like a nice homage to Spock's exploration of V'Ger in ST:TMP.

On the handful of cbs shows I DVR there are always DSC commercials. CBS is the most watched American network.

Also, Orville is out in 5 days, DSC in 19. So Times Square promos will increase.

I posted the video poster from NYC in the social network thread.

Orville is also coming out on the 10th. Discovery isn't until the 24th. I will be somewhat concerned if there isn't more advertising in the week leading to the premiere. There is also a a possibility because it's a show being streamed instead of airing on broadcast TV that advertising will be different. Do other streaming shows gets billboards, etc weeks in advance?
