News Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville

DVR is now locked in, bring it on. It looks to have a bit of a jump on the rest of the fall TV schedule so it should be interesting to see how it fares.

That sounds encouraging in terms of quality-- but discouraging in terms of ratings.

Glad to hear it's not a total disaster. Even though the review isn't great, I'm still pretty optimistic.

Critics have a tendency to over-analyze things, finding things that more than likely aren't there to find, or not managing expectations in general. I read some of their notions, but take it all with a grain of sand and make my own judgments after I've seen it.

Just set my DVR to record the series.

I noticed that, on the premier date of September 10, 2017, there is an NFL game in the late afternoon whose time slot ends only 30 minutes before the Orville premier that could therefore theoretically delay the premier. So, my advice is be prepared for that possibility. Gods forbid that they join the premier already in progress.

Ugh, that's the situation that so often plagued "Futurama". With a 7 PM slot, ball games often ran overtime, either pushing back the episode to a weird start time, starting "already in progress" or outright delaying it until the next week. As a result, it never quite had the chance to build a large enough, stable audience.

Yeah, they are doing NFL lead ins for the first 2 episodes, allegedly to give The Orville a big lead in audience.

House got hit many times by the NFL when it was still on. Very frustrating. Yeah, I just hope whoever's playing that night makes it a total blowout so there's no OT threat.

Damn, I hate having to deal with ball games that could go overtime before something I want to watch. Luckily if that happens now we can just watch it online the next day.

You know what's worse than a game pre-empting or completely removing something that was to air after it? Fucking local basketball on radio. It comes in, has two dudes who'd be good at talking paint into drying, and then you hear the game, instead of the program that was to air. And no pre-empting -- it just doesn't air at all aterwards.

It's funny/odd to see Halston Sage buried in makeup as an alien security officer.

Listen. This is slightly objectifying of me. But. I don't think I'll ever understand the logic behind hiring someone as mind-numbingly gorgeous as Halston Sage and then covering her up in gaudy alien makeup.

Perhaps that's exactly why she was offered and/or took the role? Gods forbid someone be judged by the merits of their performance and not their appearance, whoever they are.
