I'm having a hard time understanding how so-called "cord cutters" are complaining about paying for a service. Because it's for "one show"? There's a lot more on CBSAA than DSC.

You're going to be waiting a long time. I'd guess a year from now.

This is what I say a lot, as well, but it doesn't sink in or people say that the only thing they would watch at all on CBS is DSC. That includes their classic library of series.

Because for me, if there was something on CBS that I wanted to watch I'd already have the service. I have Netflix and Hulu, both of which have all the series already. So if I were to sign up for CBS it would be just for one show which is not something I want to do.

Well, I signed up but I never said whether I would or not... the selling point was dual for me since I'll also get to watch 75% of the Patriots game, without having shell out for cable. Since I live somewhere I cannot get reception with an antenna this is a big deal.
So, Pats and ST with one fell swoop at $6/month.

By Grabthar's hammer... what a savings!!

Yes, but that "a lot more" isn't always stuff that any given fan would watch.

    That's still a thing?

I'll buy it on Blu-Ray if or when it comes out. I've no intention of getting Netflix. I'm thinking of the jobs I'll be supporting by going into my local branch of HMV and buying the box set for £30 or whatever it might be.

Blu-ray sales don't do well enough to support anyone's job.

If you want to support jobs by buying physical media, then just go to Barnes and Noble, where you'll pay more because all the movies cost about 150% of everybody else's prices for some weird reason. :wtf:

I already pay for Netflix so will watch the pilot if nothing else.

Had I not already been subscribed, looking at the state of STD wouldn't make me feel like I had to get it.

I won't subscribe to CBSAA because the show doesn't look good enough to bother with. Back in the TNG/DS9 day there was a limited amount of sci-fi so I would have watched a Trek show no matter what. These two shows were good for their time and still hold up alright for me. By the time voyager and Enterprise came out there was a bigger choice. These two shows were sub par and I didn't watch them.

Fast forward to 2017 and there is a ton of sci-fi out there. Plus I have to pay to watch STD when I can watch those other shows that look better for free or they are bundled on a service like Netflix? And Netflix makes it so I can watch the whole series on my time with no commercials? So passing on STD is easy for me. I am not going to watch something just "because it's Star Trek." The CBSAA model is flawed IMO and I will voice my opinion by not subscribing.

I would probably get the free month to watch but again, the show doesn't even look that good to bother with. I am actually maxed out on the time I can spend watching TV/movies as I have a backlog of shows I want to watch as is. So enough of that adds up to make me skip it.

I don't have to pay for Discovery, I get to watch it on Space.

But how long will that last, given the talk of CBS-AA coming to Canada?

So, it just requires a bit of coordination - IE "Hey, lets do a ST: D 'live watch' thread -- and you pick a date/time (and adjust for various timezones) and see who's interested and and shows up.

    What about Tower Records? ;)
