Sounds like a Klingon version of "The Odd Couple"!

I see what you are saying, but maybe it could work if it is more political.... as in closer to the capital of the U.F.P.

We could always try something else more stationary.

How about a show set on the late 24th century Mirror Universe Moon, with ragtag band of scrappy humans and their allies, trying to undermine the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance's control of Earth and ultimately win freedom for their homeworld? The moon is controlled by the Alliance, too, but it isn't considered a plum assignment like the Earth itself, so the people they have running it aren't exactly the cream of the Klingon-Cardassian crop, and our team is able to get away with a lot because of it. The whole thing could be based loosely on Hogan's Heroes. :D

If it was to be a more political series then why not set it in Paris at the actual UFP base of power?

I like the idea of a colony-based series, but the Moon is too close to home to really have much for the characters to do--unless they were amazingly written and cast so the show was more about the trials and tribulations of the people, rather than having crazy shit thrown at them each week. There were/are people who complain about DS9 being stationary and didn't do enough exploring, so a show on the Moon would do even less.

A fledgling colony on the outskirts of Federation space on the other hand, well it's literally on a new frontier. The civilian leader of the colony would play a prominent role, Starfleet may assign a small team (most likely scientists, etc) to help study the planet and the surrounding regions, throw in a colony doctor, a dashingly roguish pilot, and a gruff-but-lovable security chief and you have a cast to venture out into the unknown and build new lives for the colonists who chose to take a chance on the new world.

To be fair, most places are arbitrarily close/distant in Trek, so it doesn't matter too much thanks to the Speed of Plot.

Ooo ooo! Speaking of not Star Trek for one second, here's why you should pay for my bus trip to Hollywood:

Prometheus: The one scientists guy, the one who cuddles with the cobra-penis and gets his arm broken? How about this: When everyone else takes off their helmets, he alone is cautious enough to keep his on. And then, instead of running up to kiss the alien penis monster, maybe he is AGAIN cautious, even paranoid, about the danger of infection. He scans the monster with a device from a distance instead of getting close to it. If he had been written that way (kind of an anti-Cain) then when the creature penetrates his space suit it would have been horrific for the audience because all his precautions were wasted: the evil can COME IN whenever it wants!

Send me your next script, Ridley Scott! I'll save your friggin' rerputation before its too late!

What's this? A horror film that develops not because the characters do stupid things but because they're simply in over their heads?

    Nah, it'll never work...

No, it's far too late. You'd be farther ahead trying to pee on the Hindenburg.

No but it would be a shame if someone else beat Trek to the premise because it means they couldn't use it at a later date. Moon colonies should go to Trek and everyone else gets to use Mars.:)

How about a show where the entire universe is pulled away from the ship which is stuck in a one position and can never move, and each week the crew have to deal with whatever literally comes there way.

Hey and they can use a new more original series title:

Star Trek: SPACE 2399: The first episode is about the dangers of the Anti-matter waste dump that Star Fleet has foolishly placed on the Moon; an the dump accidentally explodes it hurls the Moon out of Earth's oribit at Warp Speed...

Oh, wait...maybe that idea isn't sop original after all.;)

I hate to suggest yet another bloody prequel, but a series about the early days of expansion within the solar system and interstellar flight set largely on Earth, the moon and Mars could be interesting.

Colonies pushing for independence, first flights to nearby systems, negotiations with the Vulcans, setting up diplomatic relations...
