Just what is Coronet Blue, you may ask?

Coronet Blue is an American TV series that ran on CBS from May 29, 1967, to September 4, 1967.

It starred Frank Converse as Michael Alden, an amnesiac in search of his identity. Brian Bedford co-starred. The show's 13 episodes were filmed in 1965 and were originally intended to be shown during the 1965–66 television season, but CBS put the show on hiatus when they reversed an earlier decision to cancel the drama Slattery's People. The network had plans to show Coronet Blue the following year, and CBS head of programming Michael Dann said that, "there still is enormous enthusiasm" for it, but it would take another full year before the network aired it as a summer replacement. It proved moderately popular and developed a cult following. According to Converse, CBS wanted to renew it but by then Converse had signed to do another series for ABC, N.Y.P.D., which premiered the day after the last airing of Coronet Blue. Due to a number of pre-emptions, only 11 of the 13 episodes were shown during the initial run. The theme song was performed by R&B singer Lenny Welch.

The show was released to DVD by Kino Lorber July 18, 2017. Here's what the set looks like:

Considering how certain people remember this series and have wanted to see it again, this release of it is great (especially since is is an almost forgotten 1960's show that was the debut of filmmaker Larry Cohen.) I hope that this paves the way for more rare short-live classic TV shows to be released onto DVD.

Awesome.

Now somebody needs to do an official DVD release of "Run For Your Life."

With Universal not really caring about its older shows being on DVD, it's (sadly) not likely, unless maybe somebody at Kino Lorber or some other company can interest Universal in getting them to be able to do it.

A lot of these shows could be helped to be on DVD/Blu-Ray by showing them on the OTA digital sub-channels like Antenna TV, MeTV, Retro TV, etc, but most of the people who run these channels want to show the same stuff (Gilligan's Island, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Andy Griffith Show, Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Bonanza, I Love Lucy, Star Trek, Leave It To Beaver, The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis, Combat!, etc.,) over and over again until your eyes bleed and you vomit up whatever you ate in sympathy with your eyes.

The fact that people might want to see reruns of the other 50's and 60's shows that aren't as well known or that were short lived seem not to resonate with the executives of these channels, who are making the same mistakes that doomed the original version of TV Land (now no longer a classic TV channel, but a channel showing original programs, some of which are similar to the classic ones.) Showing shows like Run For Your Life, Lancer, East Side/West Side, Slattery's People, Mr. Broadway, Guestward, Ho!, The Eleventh Hour, Breaking Point, Love On A Rooftop, Captain Nice, Mr. Terrific, Run, Buddy, Run, Good Morning World, T.H.E. Cat, Mr. Novak, The Good Guys, He & She, Bridget Loves Bernie, plus a ton of others from the '70's and '80's is hard for these channels? No wonder this idea for a TV channel (or a streaming service) might be better (the reason I said what I said above is showing these on these channels might get people excited for them to be on DVD if the sales and popularity warrants.)

I do hope that a DVD set for Run For Your Life could happen, but with a company like Universal, I'm not holding my breath.

Bridgette Loves Bernie is on DVD! It's not as funny as I remember, but holy moly, Meredith Baxter was so beautiful I can't stand it.

Well, there was a solution, never filmed or aired, but a little google will help you find it.

Well, I've ordered it. Saw it once when originally aired fifty years ago! It will be interesting to see how/if it holds up. If nothing else it'll be a slice of history.

Thanks, I did read the solution a while back but I would have liked to see it play out.

Came in yesterday's mail. Third episode is a "campus protest" kind of thing. Features Richard Kiley, David Carradine, Candace Bergen, and Jon Voight. Love seeing folks at the start of their careers.
