Is anyone else very disturbed by Mike Myers' "character host" on the new Gong Show? It's distracting because it takes you completely out of the show whenever he's on (and that's a feat in itself for this trash), and just plain weird. Why couldn't he just host it as himself?

I love it myself. That's part of the show.

They should have a different woman playing J.P. Morgan every week though.

No, I think it's brilliant, I love that he created the perfect host for the show, better than any real person I think. I am pretty sure Chuck Barris as seen on the original show was a manufactured persona as well.

Holy Crap! I've watched a few episodes and had NO IDEA that was Mike Meyers. I couldn't figure out why they'd get what looked like a retired BBC comedian to host the new Gong Show.

I don't know how quickly I'd figure it out on my own but my DVR cast details showed it was Myers. They wink just a hair at the audience when he asks "Who's a cheeky monkey" ala Austin Powers? I love his little dancing shuffle he does.

I realized that I might be conflating Austin Powers with Mike Myers "Simon" sketches on SNL with the "cheeky monkey" phrase. I thought it was a bit of a tell anyway.

I have to laugh at the fact that the stage for the new show is bigger than the entire set of the original.
