Fast and the Furious star Vin Diesel is developing a Miami Vice reboot at the Peacock network, which he will executive produce.Should it move forward, the reimagined series could be on the air as early as the 2018-19 season.

Noooooooooooooooooo. Hollywood is intent on remaking everything that was a hit at one time. i was skeptical of the Lethal Weapon tv series and that turned out to be pretty good.

Everything old is new agai.

I suspect some Nostalgia is at play as those children who grew up with shows of a certain era are in place to get those shows remade.

Does this mean they didn't make enough money from that movie and want to try again? Or does it mean they made a lot from it, and want to capitalize on that? :vulcan:

Yes, Yes and Yes

Hollywood is and never will be satisifed with the amount anything makes they would always want a little more (ok a lot more)

Dynasty, miamiVice, and macgyver, and roseanne, so what other eighties shows will be coming back?

Roseanne to me is a 90s sitcom.
It's also the only true continuation.

When was Hawaii 5-O on?

I'm more in favor of continuations than stupid reboots.

I found Miami Vice as a whole to be more tedious than entertaining. The nihilistic themes - especially in the later episodes - were overdone, and the forced ambiguity was revolutionary for it's time, but has been imitated so much that the original almost seems like a parody.

I hope they find some kind of middle ground if and when they reboot the series.

i'm thinking it'll be more in the Fast and Furious vein based on Diesel and the Fast and Furious writer being producers on the series.

What's the current pop equivalent of "In the Air Tonight"?
And can you picture it as the soundtrack of an undercover drug bust?

Well, they can play on the name of something they own anyway, or go with a different title. But since there's probably no new ideas to be had, why not give it a shot?

Isn't CBS doing OK with Hawaii 5-0?

But then the really big decision, continuation or reboot????
