The TMP Klingons had that identical spinal single-ridge look that has never quite been repeated, along with that funky upswept coiffure. TSFS made the forehead ridges more plate-like. Klingons on TNG and DS9 had a more elaborate version of that look, with thicker forehead makeup as well as nose pieces. The half-Klingons in the TNG era and beyond looked like the full Klingons in the TOS movies. Cf that ridiculous Voyager episode "Prophecy" where the Klingon recognizes that B'Elanna is not full Klingon because of her ridges, even though she looks as Klingon as Valkris or Vixis, and even more so than Azetbur!

Ok I forgot about the Kelvin Klingons, but they're in an actual reboot. And they really aren't any different. They just gave them all guumba trenchcoats and shredder masks.

TMP's Klingons are the same as the rest. They have the same make-up, wear the same uniforms, and fly the same ships developed for TOS, TAS, later movies and shows.

I'd say this is the biggest reimaging so far, presenting the 3rd version.
That's a bit of an oversimplification of the process. I mean, I see your point (other than the Kelvin Klingons  "Shredder mask? Really?:rolleyes:) but there was definitely a distinct "look" to each of the iterations discussed. I think @UssGlenn is more accurate than is given credit for, but it might be just a parsing of details.

Every individual Klingon has different ridges. The Klingons in TMP are not different from any of the rest. I'm assuming the costumes used in STIII are not only identical, but actually the same ones that were made for TMP or Phase II, and the ships in TMP come from TOS, TAS, Phase II, and were used again in later in STVI

They did pull the hairline forward during TNG, but this is not a different version Klingin'.

Maybe not shredder...They kind of have a mighty duck vibe(and I cannot provide any context for that feeling) And those trench coats(in 2009) remind me of the Guumba trench coats in the Mario movie.

I'll have to believe you on this one, because I don't see it at all.

I will post pictures with fancy diagrams if I ever see my computer again.

I will title them "TRENCHCOATS EXPOSED!" or "THE TRUTH ABOUT TRENCHCOATS THAT THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW!"

Sorry, I was rolling my eyes and they got stuck back there for a moment. What was that? ;)

Arguably Star Trek VI represent a further version with significantly reduced facial ridges on several characters (compare Azetbur to Lursa or Chang to Gowron - they created a Worf head in this variation for Dorn to wear giving us a direct comparison) and oddly different costumes. But there are at the very least the 5 you list that are distinctly different.

Well, the Klingon trench coats were made to be reminiscent of WWII-era uniform coats... commonly worn in the trenches, what a novel concept.

So there are probably lots of examples in fiction of designs that look something like that. Just about every war-based anime, for example.

So if these are supposed to be Klingon's how exactly did all the Klingon Human relationships and hybrid children come about?

I wasn't knocking the trench coats. In fact I think the Klingons look much better in 09 and ID than ever before. I was watching the deleted scene from 09 on Youtube and the Guumba's trench coat just popped in my head, and it was funny so I posted it. And there's something very familiar about the helmets that I can't quite put my finger on. I thought of Shredder, The Mighty Ducks logo, FM Doom(the rapper), but I think it might actually be something from a Darkwing Duck episode.

They modified the helmets slightly in Into Darkness by covering up the mouth and eye holes, and gave the Klingons a type of uniform, although there are still a couple wearing trenchcoats, but they look more menacing. It's kinda cool if some Klingons shave their heads and put forehead rings in there ridges. I wish we'd gotten to see more of them unmasked.

So I guess the way you tell a Male Klingon from a Female Klingon now is the nail polish on their armor spikes.

Not all of them wear that armour.

I think that one might be unique to her.

I wonder how long that Klingon makeup takes to put on.

So you're saying there will be absolutely no way to tell a Male Klingon from a Female Klingon?

I prefer my Klingons at about the STIII - STVI level of alienness. Making them look more like monsters doesn't do anything for me.
