This episode prefigured the Klingon love of bladed weapons that we would see in later Trek.

I remember one of the Trek comics showed some lower-decks action during the events of "Day of the Dove," including Klingons using Bat'leths. It must have been IDW's "Blood Will Tell" series.Where were the bat'leths? I demand TOS-R-R digitally make the Klingon swords bat'leths!
