Captain Marvel is a Period Movie!

I don't know. Iron Man,Hulk,Dr Strange,Ant Man all have some age to them. As long as she still looks hot I think they wouldn't mind.

If they wanted to do that then they would have cast an older actress. Plenty of them around and since it's notoriously difficult for female actors over 40 to get starring roles they'd come a lot cheaper than Brie Larson. Bonus points if said actress was a 90's icon, given the setting.

So no, odds are they won't be ageing up Carol Danvers.

They could age her and then de-age her in the future. Not sure if their are any Marvel characters with that power or any kind of tech that could do it.

And what would the point of that be exactly?

Just that it might play into whatever story they do. They might for example want to establish she has spent the passing years living life in a normal everyday fashion. It's basically just another option they have. Another option is she looks old in reality but her youth is the illusion.

Yes, but I ask again, to what end? You don't just randomly have things happen to a main character for the sake of it and call it a story arc. There must be some point to it all.
What does having a character (whom you've just introduced BTW) age naturally only to have them reset back to marketable young achieve, other than to waste money?

Well we would already sort of know the character from the first film. So the second film were we see she has aged and is living a normal life meaning she must have given up being a superhero for some reason. Let's say she was injured and could no longer fight crime. Thano's is causing problems and Nick Fury shows up some tech that can fix the injury and make her young again and feels like the Avengers need her help to beat the bad guy. She does this even though she is relucant because the thing that injured her also got someone else killed.

So now she is young and cured an shows up to the Avengers after they just got their asses handed to them in fight. Nick Fury introduces her and tells them she can help. Nobody knows who she is except for Scarlet Witch who for some reason has knowledge of her past fight from the first movie and sort of looks up to her as a kind of female role model.

Eventually after some team bonding scenes we get another fight and in this fight Scarlet Witch dies and Captain Marvel feels responsible because maybe she encouraged her to be be more bold in the fight or something like that. She is ready to give up but it turns out she did something in the fight that might have given them a better chance of winning in the next fight and they need her to stay with them.

So more team bonding and so forth and we eventually get to the next fight and in this fight she plays a pivotal role in finally killing Thano's. She decides to stay on as a Avenger and maybe even as a leader if this will be the last we see of Tony Stark.

Perhaps they will create a MCU character with part of the mutant Rouge's power set to explain the Steve Rogers like decades absence?

Another theory is she starts in the present and travels back to the 90's. S.H.I.E.L.D covers the whole adventure up so the general public never finds out and then she returns back to the present.
