Jodie Whittaker is the 13th Doctor

I never read any genuine negativity in Peter Davison's comments. He began the sentence, "If I feel any doubts..." Overall, he seemed positive to the idea. But, once again, the Left eats one of their own simply for expressing nuance. (And congratulations to Colin Baker for finally becoming more popular than Peter Davison! ;) )

BTW, I wonder how some of the more romantically-tinged companions like Rose, Martha, or even Jo (albeit in a more platonic-crush sort of way) would react when meeting the 13th Doctor?
Bill's reaction would be interesting. :)

River wouldn't care after she figured out this was the Doctor...actually she might not care even before that and flirt from the start, be her third wife or something like that. Jack wouldn't care either...he's still hit on the Doctor.

Rose would be put out for sure.
Amy or Clara might actually like it. Both flirted with copies of themselves. Amy would miss her raggedy-man but I think she's reasonable. Clara's gotten over all that finally with 12 and could be interesting with a new writer.
I don't know if Martha ever met any other Doctor aside from 10, so I can't say how she'd react to even 11 or 12, much less 13.
Osgood....would probably fangirl over the idea.
Haven't been keeping up so I don't know Bill yet.

It is too bad we will never see Sarah Jane's reaction.
be interesting to see Susan or Jenny's reaction. Though Susan will probably not be effected, Jenny doesn't know Time Lord culture all that well and might have weirdness with "dad" becoming "mom" and from the Doctor's perspective, not seeing Jenny for well over a thousand years...and not knowing she was alive at all.
Who want to see Ace's reaction in story?

When I was younger people on the Left used to believe, "I don't agree with what you say but I'll defend your right to say it," but post-Twitter and Facebook that idea seems to have gone out the window.
Oh, nobody's blameless. A right-wing author I know recently posted that all SJWs (a supposed pejorative) should be destroyed. It's civility that's lacking everywhere.

But to bring it back to the Doctor at least so far I haven't seen the worst of the horrid misogynistic rants that they hope she (or the actress) get assaulted which is too often directed at females out of favor.

Every time this thread title comes up my brain sees this guy:

I truly think that the TARDIS grooms it's passengers with nanites, while they are distracted or sleeping.

Men don't give a damn, and wouldn't notice that they haven't had a hair cut in 8 months, but the human women on board must have been very confused how someone must be cutting their toe nails for them while they slept, and wigged that that someone might be the Doctor.

My point is that the TARDIS will make the Doctor look like a tidy well groomed 21st century woman, without the Doctor herself applying any of the massive unending effort that a 21st century woman has to go through, to look like a 21st century woman.

Which is cheating.

Your posts are truly a delight. How did you come to this amazing conclusion? It's rather unique.

It's a bit hard to believe in 'I may disagree with what you say but will defend your right to say it' when what is being said is actual fascist stuff. Properly regressive men should have the right to rape women and we should kill refugees type stuff. Especially when so much of it is being spread online by sexist, racist trolls, who start out with SJWs are running my favourite childhood show.

How does any of that apply to people like Peter Davison who has been subjected to a ton of hate-filled abuse from so-called liberals? I've seen people literally tell him to "fuck off and die". How is that acceptable?

If you're looking for facists these days you don't need to start with people on the right.

I'm not defending that behaviour. That was a clear case of taking one quote out of context and making him out as a raging sexist when he clearly wasn't, and even if he was the backlash was beyond reasonable or proportional. But I'll leave the political discussion there.

I am often reminded of Moffats Coupling sitcom..specifically the scene with the realisation that the left side of politics can no longer cast itself as the Rebels from Star Wars once they are in power. And then some stuff from Dune abounbehaving according to ones own ideology when in power, and the outrage when not. Then I think these things are interesting, but ultimately rather sad, because humans will find any excuse to be nasty to each other, if that's what they want to do. How do you argue with either side in political/ideological/religious discussions, when both of them hold the view that they are absolutely correct? And when they use that perceived correctness to behave abominably, who is going to hold them to account?
Nah.
I will go back to just liking fun fictions. I have enjoyed Killjoys and Dark Matter more than Doctor Who in recent years. I must be getting old.

I find it amusing that people think that deleting tweets will actually matter. If their profile is known well enough and they're trying to hide a tweet, someone will have saved it.
