Captain Marvel is a Period Movie!

Maybe Anna Paquin will suck Carol's mind dry?

Which would have to be set during or just before the first X-Men Movie, unless Captain Marvel tries to take out the X-Men for some reason?

Just a fun idea but what if Stan Lee's cameo is Captain Marvel watching "Mallrats" during a part where Stan Lee was in that movie. Also we know Kevin Smith is a big comic book fan so what if Jay and Silent Bob made a cameo as well or what if Captain Marvel makes a stop at the Quickie Mart from "Clerks and has a scene with Dante and Randall. Is their anything more 90's than Kevin Smith movies?

Some how that piece of excrement made 500 million from a budget of almost 200 million.

Sophie is kida pretty, for a 20 year old pretendng to be 15, but she comes off as a clueless gorm, which is on par with a 60's "oo save me Cyclops I twisted my ankle and need a big man to save me" but Teenagers in the 80s were fierce.

(Thinking about Mallory from family ties talking about the mall.)

I wonder if they will deal with the fact that a good chunk of S.H.E.L.D is hydra agents, biding their time. I think this would be a perfect place to also use Agent Coulson again in the movies and even May it they want to. In fact it might even be fun to see some pre-hero characters in like Tony Stark still making money off of weapons or Bruce Banner as a regular scientist. Black Widow and Hawkeye are proably to young to use.

I wouldn't mind a cameo from someone like Coulson or maybe even an add for Stark's company, just enough to remind us we're in the MCU, but that would be it. This should be before most of the big characters were active, so I'd rather not see them drag a bunch of them into this. You can get away with that in something like Homecoming, which is long after the Avenger became a thing, but not in something set nearly 30 years ago.

I watched The Avengers this evening and I noticed something that may come in conflict with the idea of the Skrulls being involved in this film set in the 90s: Fury specifically cites Thor, Loki, and The Destructor's arrival and subsequent wanton destruction as reasons to utilize the Tesseract to build up arms. Fury clearly indicates that it was Earth's and his own first experience with extraterrestrial life. The only way I can see this film working with the Skrulls is if Captain Marvel's encounters with them occur off Earth and she doesn't (or isn't able to) return to Earth.

Or, you know, ignore Fury's dialogue.

Strictly speaking, the existence of the diviner, the monolith, the tesseract itself and various other 084s already seems at odds with the notion that Fury didn't know for a fact aliens existed and have visited earth prior to the New Mexico incident.
Mind you, it kinda depends on how you interpret what he says: -

BANNER
I'd like to know why S.H.I.E.L.D. Is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction.

FURY
Because of him.

THOR
Me?

FURY
Last year, Earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that levelled a small town.
We learned that not only are we not alone but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned.

THOR
My people want nothing but peace with your planet.

FURY
But you're not the only people out there, are you? And you're not the only threat.
The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, that can't be controlled.

Now read that in the context that he has already encountered Skrulls and suddenly it reads less like he's worried aliens exist and more like he's concerned they're starting to take notice of Earth again.
Also note the emphasis of the damage caused. Perhaps the Skrulls in Captain Marvel will just be a small group of infiltrators or even shipwrecked castaways with no serious ordinance, and Fury believes them to have been permanently dealt with.
Now he's seen the destroyer in action, not only is he worried about even more visitors but SHIELD's utter inability to match their level of weapons technology.

Yeah, that makes sense. Perhaps the interactions with the Skrulls is purely espionage based and doesn't involve any kind of violence or show of power. Or at least on Earth. I still think it's possible that Captain Marvel encounters them off Earth without the ability to communicate back.

Which could also explain how she'll show up eventually in the present day without aging-- some sort of time dilation effect on the journey home.

How do we know they won't age her for the modern time period? New haircut, some glasses a few grey hairs and presto you got a older person.
