WB's Justice League 2017 movie pre-discussion thread

"No Lanterns, no Kryptonians" ... well he's wrong about the second one, but could he be oh for two? ;)

That trailer was certainly better than the first one. Still has a few eye-rolling cartoonish moments like Aquaman's falling from the sky, through several floors of a building and quickly sliding out the front entrance. Otherwise, it looks like it could be fun.

It's Aquaman, surfing on a Parademon like it's a fish.
You say eye-rolling, I say awesome :D

Fair enough. I've never carried about Aquaman one way or the other. I think the only part of that moment actually bothers me is how quickly appears out of the building after crashing through it. Not a big deal, but at first glance, it felt cartoonish. *shrug*

That looked really good. I can't believe I'm saying this after BvS, but I probably won't wait for home video on this after all.;)

Some of the lines made me laugh or at least smile (mainly from Flash and Alfred) but I really dislike the look of it. The action and night time scenes just look like a computer game. If this didn't have iconic superheroes, I'd be giving it a miss.

I'll almost certainly see it in the cinema but I'm feeling really burned out on the DCEU. Please prove me wrong this time.

Yeah... I thought it was kind of cool, but the timing was off. Then again, maybe they sped it up for the trailer. With digital effects, it's comparatively easy to edit a shot to look different in the trailer -- e.g. the shot from Rogue One where they added a TIE fighter in the trailer that wasn't in the movie.

Fascinating trailer, which seems to promise so much more to this universe, and the references to "Lanterns" and the shoulder of the person Alfred was talking to will be most will discussed items (after the film, of course) well into the next couple of years (something else to look forward to in future movies--along with wiping the memory away of that trash GL film with Reynolds). Really interested in the return to Themyscira, and how they are (likely) forced to join into the larger world/idea like the individual superheroes.

Solid poster design, taking inspiration from the greatest of all modern age comic-associated artists, Alex Ross. A complete winner.

Yes, but I doubt they'd make their theatrical debut this soon. Last year, Johns promoted Hal Jordan to be leader of the whole GL Corps. We know who Johns' favorite is and who he'll push for.

Agreed, and from a promotional standpoint, Jordan--even in name--has the biggest pop cultural footprint (besides being the most interesting GL ever created).

Good.

Another point against the brainwashed Superman idea, is that they just did that in the the last season finale of Supergirl, and I can't see them repeating a big plot point like that so close.

The majority of movie audiences--and/or audiences specifically interested in superhero films (more than likely) do not watch those TV series, so the film productions are free to use any plot they choose. Much like most MCU fans do not care about whatever is happening in Agents of SHIELD.

I'm very happy that they at least give the Lanterns a shout-out. I'm looking forward to finding out why there weren't any in the area at that time.
