What kind of Doctor do you think Jodie Whittaker will portray?

I have no idea.

She reminds me a bit of Peter Davison - just from the impression. But I think we'll have to wait till we see her costume and probably know about the companions she'll get.

I hope it will be great - it's without Moffat. ;)

A good one. EVERY Doctor has grabbed the role by the horns by the end of their first episode, making us want to watch more. On this forum, upon their review of a Doctor Who premiere, someone has always said "My God, Eccleston / Tennant / Smith / Capaldi *IS* The Doctor!!!" to a chorus of written nods. I expect no less with Jodie. She'll do it different, but she will BE the Doctor.

We've had the young/the old/ the young but old, the patriachal grandfather, the genius in guise of a clown, the loud, & abrassive but caring, the master manipulator, the warrior, the survivor burdened with guild an d the young randy one so in a nutshell I have N.F.I :)

Maybe they'll come up with a bit from them all but with a female twist.

Episode 1 Title: The Period Of Doom.

(And yes, that's the sort of crap some people are seriously coming out with.)

I prefer not to go in with any expectations on how Whittaker will perform her Doctor and instead trust that I will enjoy whatever she and Chris Chibnall come up with.

Wow. As this thread made think of a silly joke, I suddenly imagined School Reunion with 13th instead of 10th, and the Doctor introducing herself as Jane Smith. That made me feel sad somehow.

On a more serious note....

I got a sense of wonder from that one look she, a sense of still being amazed what was out there, when she heard the TARDIS. I'd love to see some more of that again. The wonders and beauty of the galaxy, not just the dangers.

I do so desperately want to get the reaction of an old companion on the show such as Jo or Ace. I mean, other than the UNIT crowd (Who I hope that we will still be seeing. UNIT is far too integrated into the lore and the name "Lethbridge-Stewart" should continue on in the mythos), although I would be interested in Osgood's reaction to the change.

While I don't think it's necessary to see a variety of companions reacting to The Doctor's change, I do think Leela's reaction would be very amusing. "Ah, Doctor! You've finally come to your senses. I approve."

(I'm putting these under the spoilers tag because there's a slim possibility of someone who didn't watch the Series Finale entering this thread, I don't want to take any risks and spoil it for someone else)

What I'm more concerned is that the Doctor doesn't know that Missy redeemed herself. She got killed before she could reach him. One great piece of Twelve's personality is that he took the "never give in" part of his character quite literally. He didn't give up trying to make Missy a better person. Wonder if this will mean the 13th Doctor will give way less chances to people like her previous incarnations did. The Flatline speech indicates the Doctor sometimes gets tired of trying to understand the baddies.

This probably will lead to some horrible consequences. I mean, if the Doctor thinks for sure it's a waste of time trying to redeem her childhood friend, the next time Master/Missy shows up with their shenanigans she will probably pull a Family of Blood right away. No questions asked. This will give a proper justification for the Master/Missy to be evil now since they did stand with the Doctor, but the Doctor doesn't actually care anymore.

So yeah, I think the whole Tom Baker sized ego could be a thing. From her perspective it makes sense. She spent millennia trying to figure out why she is the Doctor, now that she knows the answer and made her peace with it, why go back to having doubts and being humble ?

Even though TIme Lords can be any gender we have the fact that the Doctor has always been a man. Why not explore why he went that way and why hasn't he been a woman before. What if this Doctor choose this option as a means of exploring his/her own self. Basically a more self reflective doctor and one who might not even see herself as being more evolved than humans.
