Anyone else disturbed by La Forges sexual harrasment of Leah Brahms?

The character of Geordi in my opinion, suffered because his episodes were most likely written by people who have unwittingly sexually harassed other people. Mind you, this was also back in the day before awareness was high. Many 80s films deal with the nerd trying to "woo" a woman (albeit creepily).

If I had been writing Booby Trap and then later Galaxy's Child: If you notice, in Booby Trap, the holodeck (ship's computer) makes its own decision to create a physical avatar for Leah Brahms. Geordi even double-checks whether he asked for it. The hologram of Leah says "Every time you look at this engine, you're looking at me." It would have been a far more interesting story (and less creep harassment) to have it be that the Enterprise's computer AI became attached to Geordi and created a sentient hologram to interact with him, so that it could "love" him. Of course, by the end of the episode, they would have to convince the computer to create a new avatar and not someone who exists already. Usually, the Chief Engineer of the Enterprise is in love with the ship, but this would be the first time the ship falls in love in return. ;)

It's been done on Futurama and a bit in Andromeda and riffed on more broadly in episodes of TOS. Which isn't to say it couldn't possibly have been interesting.

That's a good idea. Maybe the computer was already in love with Geordi. He did have those hypothetical discussions with the computer often enough.

Well we do know the computer became self aware in season 7 and flew away as a colorful weird looking thing. Maybe this is what happens sometimes when you have a living computer. It gives birth to living holograms. First Morriarity and then Leah Brahms.
