New Spacedock Doodle

Abandoned concept doodle for a new Spacedock. The bottom half especially is wrong, but I was thinking of a new Spacedock for the Galaxy Era.

I like it! It looks almost as if it was made from crystal, putting looks over function, so it goes right along the Galaxy.

I like it, too. But I think with its spindly design it fits more into the era of the Universe-class Enterprise-J.

Others? Comments? I'm surprised by now much I like what I was going for initially. I may flesh it out a little further.I'm going to try to keep it in D area, but may do a J one too if things go there. There are a lot of additions I'm thinking to adding to the finished Spacedock, making it something quite more.

Suffice it to say, though, it's a Galaxy Spacedock, the top mushroom is utterly massive. The tech inside is spectacular too, beyond expectation.

Yeah. I didn't do the dimensions, but the top saucer is large enough to house a fleet of Galaxy Class starships or bigger.

Don't let its elegance fool you; this thing is massive and near indomitable. Given its size (its cost and the number of people it would house) I imagine you could blow a hole through the planet below before you got through its shields. And be rained down upon by planetary-grade phasers from the ring and a thousand others everywhere, not to mention a defense perimeter of station-orbiting satellites or deployable drones. ...not to make it sound "super-duper," but I think these things are reasonable, given the investment.

It's beautiful, and very elegant in form. I can easily imagine this being as massive as you describe. I hope you do find time to flesh it out a bit more - I'm interested to see where you take it.
