I would say the door's wide open now for Purser, except she just snagged a role in CW's 'Riverdale' as Ethyl Muggs. Don't know if Kendrick'd be willing to take a pay cut to star in a streaming series, so... back to square one casting-wise.
I'd rather see Mae Whitman as Doreen than Anna Kendrick.
^ That is possible. She mainly does cartoon voiceover work these days and has no movie roles lined up, so she's available for live-action duty if she wants it.
Thinking about other New Warriors, I wonder what the situation is with Firestar's rights? Yes, she is a mutant, but she first appeared on the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends television show.
I think that both of them would be too old for the part.

I read that they've chosen the team members but haven't announced them yet, so I'm kinda hoping Kamala will be one of them. Ms. Marvel is the best Marvel superhero who doesn't have the powers of both squirrel and girl. I guess she has the powers of both Marvel and Ms., though, which is also pretty awesome.
Although I'd kind of rather have Kamala on the Inhumans TV series, so that this could happen.
Anyway, I just read the third and fourth trade collections, so I've now read the story where she fights supervillains in her sleep using computer science. It is indeed metal. It was also fun seeing her vex Doctor Doom using time travel and computer science. I also previously read the Marvel Universe graphic novel, which I think I must have read out of sequence. All great fun.
I just wish the tiny text captions on the page bottoms weren't quite so tiny, because I don't have the eyes of a young person anymore...

I didn't realize that was her, the Marvel article lists This Is Us and Silicon Valley as a couple of her credits.
I only knew her from the commercials and a few (magnificent) modeling shots. A friend of mine has a huge crush on her.
