Just over two weeks to go and we get this....

The Mondasian Cybermen are on the rise. It’s time for the Doctor’s final battle…
‘The Doctor Falls’, written by Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay premieres on BBC One and BBC America on Saturday, July 1st.

The Doctor is played by Peter Capaldi, Bill by Pearl Mackie and Nardole by Matt Lucas. Michelle Gomez guest stars as Missy and John Simm stars as the Master.

I haven't really got in to this series, so I'm hoping that it will all redeem itself towards the end. I can not wait for the Master!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strange - I've only seen the first third of the season, but it's been head and shoulders better than the previous seasons so far...

So its only for the one episode? I thought the Cybermen-Master story was gonna be two eps... back to single-episode finales?

His final battle again? The character played by Claire Bloom in The End Of Time, when speaking with Wild seemed to think that the Doctor was destined to die during the events of that story,

Maybe they'll kill him off and have another character continue his legacy. Nardole or Missy claiming to be the Doctor, maybe? Something like this will probably happen eventually, as it seems to with all major superheroes. He could be back in a year or five using any of a whole host of possible in-universe methods. But it might be nice, for the time being, for him to stop at thirteen incarnations and to end up buried on Trenzalore.

I think Moffat has said that the Christmas Special is about "redemption". Interesting...

Look familiar?

"Goodness is not goodness that seeks advantage. Good is good in the final hour, in the deepest pit without hope, without witness, without reward. Virtue is only virtue in extremis. This is what he believes, and this is the reason, above all, I love him. My husband. My madman in a box. My Doctor." - River Song, 'Extremis'

"Old friend, is she? If you have ever let this creature [Missy/The Master] live, everything that happened today is on you. All of it - on YOU. And you're not going to let her live again." - Clara Oswald, 'Death in Heaven'

Those, I think, are two quotes to bear in mind as we go into this final two-parter.

I'm hoping we get an epic finale where Missy joins forces with the Master and the Doctor is faced with the threat of Cybermen controlled by 2 Masters!!

Another clip from the next episode where Missy pretends to be the Doctor for great comedic effect:

Why in Gods' name does she say "I'm Doctor Who"? He's never said that.

I think the whole scene is meant as a joke. The idea is that Missy is trying to imitate the Doctor but is getting it all wrong because she is not the Doctor. The whole scene is basically a parody.

Then we see the Simms Master enter and say oh my Doctor, my you have changed.. ;)

Maybe this a clue that she is 'good' at impersonation and is currently impersonating... the Master! Perhaps she is in fact the Rani teamed up with the Master to distract the Doctor for some reason whilst the real Master gets up to no good? Or not! :rommie:

^^ The thought has occurred to me, I must admit. The Rani was certainly familiar with the Master's m.o. (& had a very low opinion of it). And Missy does seem more competent a villain than the classic Master had been (as Rani would be). And has Missy even once tried to hypnotize anybody?
