The Nationals drafted Dusty Baker's kid.

You know, the one who almost got pasted at home plate in the 2002 World Series.

That was fifteen years ago. I was watching that play live in my dorm room in college. Jaysus, I'm old.

The Mets Matt Harvey will be our several weeks with a "stress" injury in his shoulder. Also Neil Walker will be out with a left hamstring tear.

Nats also selected a fourth-generation Boone: Jake (Bret's son).

This has got to be a record - I know there are other families (Bell, Hairston) that produced three generations of players, but this is the first I've heard of a FOURTH.

Blue Jays took Roger Clemens' son, Kacy, as well. Must be good to have the bloodline.

...and now CF Juan Lagares has a broken thumb. This was an actual in-game injury, as opposed to the litany of mis-diagnoses from the Mets' medical staff.

Ah... June, that time of year when Oakland Athletics fans choose the team they will root for while keeping a weary eye on the mediocrity that comes from Oakland Crapiseum...

I think this year I'll cheer for the Rockies... now off to find who is actually playing for them these days...

Mark fucking Reynolds has a 128 OPS+ (and that's not just Coors; he has a .382 OBP on top of his .302 BA) and Charlie Blackmon continues to own.

I've had both those guys on my fantasy teams in the past. Mark loves to strikeout, but it's nice to see him healthy and happy.

Blackmon is a quiet star... looks like his SO rate is up, but that power! - sexy.

So @Timby, what about the Cubs new leadoff hitter? A double, a walk and two homers in five plate appearances to leadoff games and 9/22 in that span.

Yeah, it's Anthony Rizzo. With Zobrist on the DL and Schwarber a complete failure at leadoff, who else could they have tried? Jay or Almora wouldv'e been my top 2 choices. Almora couldn't have been worse than Schwarbs at #1.

Jay or La Stella would have been my picks (if only because both of them have been on-base machines, and the primary reason Bryant's numbers are so terrible in the 2 hole is that he's never hitting with anyone on base), but Rizzo's making a case for, as he puts it, "the best leadoff hitter of all time."

We may still suck, but sweeping the Yankees always feels nice.
