Nick Meyers new interview. Working on a secret trek project

Could it be animation? Sure. Doesn't make much sense to have a 70+ year old man working on it. One who has never (to my knowledge) worked in any kid related entertainment fields.
Historically, lots of animation till recent times was produced by older men. As an executive producer though, Meyer wouldn't necessarily be writing a lot of scripts.

But no one knows what role he is filling in whatever the project is...
I'm pointing out if it is animation, an older man would have positions within the production where he did not have to be intimately acquainted with the modern teenager.

A quick search on the Star Wars animation shows white male producers that range in age from the mid-40s to Geroge Lucas himself, who was in his 50s and 60s when producing them.

Which is why I think it's animation. Paramount knows if it wants to improve Trek's "niche" it needs to bring in younger viewers.

Well as has been noted elsewhere, whatever project he's working on, he's most likely acting primarily as a consultant instead of as a writer. If it is animation, he could help bring a level of sophistication and depth which would be very welcome.
I've been wishing they would do another animated Star Trek series for ages, so this would make me very happy.
As for his position, I'm with @captainkirk here, he'd probably just be there as consultant, or even if he was on the writing staff, he'd probably be part of a bigger team who have more experience with this kind of stuff. He'd probably be there just to attract the older fan's and to help capture the feel of Trek.
But I still think he's just writing the Discovery comic, or at least providing the story.

I could see it possibly being a film, but not for theatrical release, for CBSAA/Netflix internationally.

A TV film or miniseries is a possibility for sure. But I would be very surprised if it wasn't something in the 23rd century that perhaps ran alongside Discovery (while not directly related to it). I really do think the days of the 24th century are over... at least for now.

I wonder if CBS would even be allowed to produce straight-to-streaming Star Trek movies? Does Paramount's Trek movie deal only cover theatrical releases, or any movies regardless of their release format?

I still think it's a novel or comic book:rommie:

Usually when someone said that they are working on a secret project. It most likely on a format that they are more known of doing.
