Nick Meyer Hints at another Star Trek project

While Meyer did open up a bit to reveal the above, he also noted that he couldn’t really talk about Discovery, joking he “signed the Official Secrets Act.”

However, and entirely unprompted, Meyer dropped a bit of a bombshell…

Meyer: One thing that has nothing to do with Discovery is that I am working on another Star Trek project, but I can’t discuss that either.

I also wonder what he means by the 'niche' Fuller thought of that would grant DSC a certain level of freedom from continuity...
Good to see you back Rama!

I think he just means the timeframe because there really isn't much we know about it.

Lower your expextations or you'll be disappointed, I doubt it's something really huge, he wouldn't drop hints in that case because CBS would rip his head off.

Lower your expectations. CBS would not legally or politically choose to murder someone for leaking information prior to a public reveal of an upcoming project. It's more likely he'd get reprimanded or even fired. Maybe face a lawsuit if the leaks warrant it.

Propably another Prequel "1000 Years before Kirk and Spock" Something with Dragons, Knights, Borg in the arctic and lots of Sex and Violence.

And Sherlock Holmes.

Uh, I'm pretty sure Takeru was being sarcastic and he doesn't really think that CBS will literally decapitate Meyer.

Fantasy:
Star Trek: Enterprise, full cast reunion for a Birth of the Federation/Romulan War mini-series.
Star Trek Beyond's 22nd Century sets, props and uniforms redressed for Archer's crew circa 2160.
Drexler's Enterprise refit onscreen, together with Franklin, Columbia, Intrepid, some Daedalus, warp deltas etc.
Nicholas Meyer directing all the phase cannon versus Rommie nuke action.

Reality:
4K retransfer and new Director's Cut of Star Trek VI.

But since it's my favourite film and first I saw in cinemas, that reality could be pretty good too.

Perhaps they'll make some sort of version of the Star Trek: The Beginning, but rewritten so that it's Burnham's great-grandfather and not Kirk's?

My guess: book, comic or 4K transfer.

CBS needs to be certain that the world actually wants new Star Trek and that's what Discovery is the first step towards. Right now, the vocal response is a big no. You can argue that it's not the Trek that fans want. But that's not what an outsider would see.

Vocal has nothing to do with being correct........just being LOUD and whiney....

Of course it doesn't. But if you were CEO of CBS, would you want to produce stuff for a bunch of loud whiny fans? I wouldn't.

If only.

A new commentary track for a repackaging of the same old masters they've been using forever sounds more likely

Nah.
