The New USS Discovery....

I've seen the new version of Discovery but unfortunately I can't post it. I predict fans will like it much better except for one major detail which they will continuously complain about. I may consider sending the image at a later date directly to some interested parties.

Hey as long as she's unique and paves her own way I'm game with whatever. Hopefully she's rocking some sexy pearlescent hull color and nice red accents.

The engines?

I've seen three people mention in the last two weeks that they have images of the final ship. So we're likely no more than a week from a leak that'll be all over the web.

A donut ring. A donut hull. Holes everywhere! Though it'll likely just be something as minor as a bridge window - no matter what it is, people will complain.

PS. I'm an interested party, and your post was before mine so I'm considering hat a later date :p

I think I'm more interested in how you got your hands on an image of the new version than in the image itself. What's the story behind it?

It's bound to be a space window to the front of the bridge. Something we really like to blame JJ Abrams for.

Although I was watching a special feature on the Roddenberry Vault the other day, and in among the great unseen model work, one unused Cage shot is a zoom in on a something strikingly similar.

:techman:

The bridge window thing always baffled me as an issue. Even ignoring the bridge window on the early model - the entire bridge has a glass window on top of it! At least the Kelvin bridge window has a function. The original just seemed to show bad guys where the captain was sitting :p

Oh, you're such a tease! You mean the Vengeance-like saucer don't you?

That was for one pilot episode only and it wasn't supposed to be the window/viewscreen.

Then what was it?

It's the wrong size & proportions to be the viewscreen/window. It's almost 16 ft wide, 6 ft high, and slanted inward.

So? The Cage uniforms were only for two episodes, and yet they apparently are a requirement for DSC to be "correct."

True. That particular "window" however wasn't in The Cage. It was made for Where No Man Has Gone Before and was removed in the production version.

But, the point stands, that there are influences, and precedent in production history, as well as historical precedent in the timeline, with the USS Kelvin.

The proportions and size were incorrect in the 2009 movie (and some shots of 2013's Into Darkness as well) too, so I'm not so sure that can be proof of anything.

I also recall the size of the original Enterprise was altered between pilots, or between pilots and the series proper, with more windows added to the model to indicate more decks.
