Q might be Guinan's son! My theory.

Here is how it goes. When we see them first meet they clearly have a history. It's one were they don't like each other. A curious thing to think about though is that Guinan recognizes him while looking like John Delancie. Why would he look like that when meeting Guinan in the past when he can take so many shapes?
My idea is that is what Q use to look like even before the Q evolved and the Q are actually the Al-Aurans in the future after that evoultion. We already know they live a long life so it makes sense that they could grow and become more powerful.
We also know Guinan has a son who she said never listened. What if they had a feud that lasted all the way even when their species evolved. Q can travel back in time and meet his mom before she evolved herself but Guinan knows it's her son because of her ability to sense things or maybe just told her. Maybe this is one of the reason's why Q seems fascinated by Picard. It's because his mom was as well and he wanted to know why she felt that way or even mess with her via by messing with Picard.

Are you suggesting that Guinan actually gave birth to Q because the Voyager episode Q2 would contradict that. Q states that his son is the first child ever born into the Continuum

/thread. :D

But on the other hand... it's not like Q doesn't lie.
The thing is, the theory just seems way too far-fetched. I don't think the thought even crossed any writer's mind.

Maybe Picard is the father. Q just loves to mess with dad.

I mean, think about what Wesley can do on those other planes of existence. I'm sure that Jean-Luc and Beverly are proud of their son!

The way I see it is that the rest of the Q,including John DeLancie, would have been born before the Continuum existed and thus Q's son would have been the first one born since they had become evolved beings.
I know it sounds far fetched but the mystery of Guinan and the power of the Q I think makes it work on some level.

I don't recall Q being a flat-out liar. He messes with people, true, but I don't remember him telling a blatant lie.

That said, no, Q's not Guinan's son. IIRC, Martus Mazur from DS9 was supposed to be, but they wrote that out of the episode (Rivals) where he appeared.

Hahaha. You just made Q out to be like Wesley. This thread is great for that reason alone :guffaw:

Something tells me Guinan who isn't as old as you believe would mother Q. Both despise each other and act like one of them die.

Two lives of different clues of how old they are:
Q lives in a world no concept of existence as you recall from scenes from Voyager. First it was a deserted road with a ramshack, then it was the American Civil War when Q gave Quinn a drug to kill himself. For all we know, Q is still 34 years old (actorr's main age) and he has the power to travel all the way back to the first dinosaur.

Guinan is a 700 year old El-Aurian. Maybe even greater since she was married 23 times and even met Mark Twain.

Guinan sees differently than humans. She has powers of perception, and apparently isn't what she appears to be either. When Q takes Picard to ten forward, he clears out the room of people, and then he's surprised to so Guinan there. She must have some kind of powers.

I don't think she's a Q though. He says she's a demon and offers to destroy her. Would he treat his own mother that way?

I don't think she is a Q but will someday become a Q like the rest of her race. As for Q's dislike for her, he wouldn't be the first person in the world with major parental issues. Of course one thing we do know is Guinan has been married alot and someone must have helped her create her children so what if instead of her child you could even bring up the possibility that Q is one of her ex husbands.

Oh sure, Q is Guinan's son. Because every mum greets her wayward child by giving him a hateful stare and stabbing him with a fork. You really do have too much time on your hands.

We don't know their history. Just because they are related doesn't mean they couldn't grow to hate each other. What I find intresting is the only people we have ever seen Guinan show hatred to is Q and the Borg. Q has only really shown hatred towards Guinan. He see's everyone else beneath him but the fact that someone like Guinan could evoke that kind of emotion says that they must have a really bad past together.

Where are you getting that from? No El-Aurian ever became a Q, or ever gave any indication that they were going to become a Q. Why would Guinan want to become part of a race that she hates? Are you just making stuff up now to support whatever outlandish thing pops into your head?

It's just a theory to explain why Q and Guinan seem to hate each other. I know Guinan had a child who didn't listen and her race is long lived with somewhat special powers in how they perceive the world. PLus I don't think it goes against anything established so it seems like a possibility.

So if you hate someone, they must be your kid or your parent? Nice premise there.
I actually think it is a nice premise. Sure they could come up with any idea as to why they hate each other but I think it's more fun if they did make them related whether it as mother/son or wife/ex-husband. Of course i'm the guy who likes the idea that a male spot was killed, then Geordi got Data a female Spot and altered Data's program to not notice or I like the idea that Q is actually around in every episode, but in disguise so nobody will notice.
