Kelvin Timeline all but confirmed

How many people are interested in a 25th century Star Trek series beyond a section of the fans? Personally, Voyager wore me out on that whole idea, where we see the same basic tropes continuing along a tired path.

The idea being that it's not a Berman trek. There's no reason it would have to be that way. I'm sure it would have been very different thanks to an entirely new creative team. Yeah, not many want more of the same old stuff. A fresh new take on it? You bet!

If small universe syndrome is bad with shows set within decade(s), imagine how would it feel if Sarek showed up in a show set 100 years after Nemesis. :rommie:
I predict someday we are going get a hardcore remake of Trek. Something like Kirk will be a women and Picard is her first officer and Data is a Vulcan looking android created by his dad Spock. McCoy will be a hot new 20 something doctor getting his first posting. The main villians will be a alliance between the Borg and the Ferengi who in this version are brutal warriors who steal gold press latinum to eat it.

That was my original preference too. To set it after Nemesis and Voyager. Maybe 100 years later. That way you could change things up a lot and not be tied to the exact scenarios as they were left when we last saw the 24th Century.

I would like a time frame of 20 or 40 years so you could have more of the old characters appear.

I just don't understand how fans will say they want a series to be a little past Nemesis and that timeframe so it will be further into the future, but then say they'd like TNG characters to appear. If you want series and movies to keep going further out into the 25th Century, why do you want TNG people to be in it?

I sometimes wonder what they put in the water where you live... :wtf:

You know what would have been a good timeframe is post "TOS" but before "TNG." The tech you see in the trailer actually looks more primitive then stuff you see on TNG. It looks better designed for the most part because they are using modern technology to make the show but not super futuristic to me.
I would actually buy that stuff happening in that timeframe except the Klingons and they might be explained away by being ancient Klingons.

We already have the movies covering part of that time period and a lot of the history was filled in by references in the later shows, so they really wouldn't have as much freedom there as they do with the period they ended up choosing.

Wow, that's a nice cheerful world you live in! Maybe try to relax and enjoy it a bit?

Well it says ten years before the Enterprise as well so I assume it's the mission. But if it's before their birth then obviously it would definitely be in the Prime-timeline. However given Sarek's grayer hair it seems more likely that it's ten years before the mission.
They should set it in 2250, ten years before reboot Kirk and Spock's 5-year-mission, just to screw with everyone's heads even further:lol:

I'm almost sure it means the five year mission. Doesn't matter, though. Discovery can rewrite any prior and future events at will. Sarek was looking after Michael Burnham instead of spending time with Amanda, the Sarcophagus ship causes a major time travel accident after which young Sarek never travels to Earth, the time cops chasing Commander Burnham fine future Spock from Yesterday for unauthorised travel, thereby erasing him from the timeline, or Archer/Future Guy shows up and says “Nice timelines you have there”

I hope you aren't a writer on the show.

I didn't notice any grey hair and the Enterprise was around a long time before Kirk took command.

How old is the Enterprise supposed to be in TOS? Could it be the same age as Kirk?

However, you could be right, but not because of the mention Enterprise, but because the traile says ten years before Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise. The most sensible conclusion is that imeans before we meet all three together on the Five year mission.
