Borg space how big is it?

Even after kess flung them 10,000 light years past borg space Voyger still encountred borg cubes and stations regualy and the uni complex was in easy reach in series 5-7.

I have two explinations:

1) is that borg space was not a uniform shape but rather spread out like a spider with tendrals going off in diffrent directions. Kess just flung them past on tenderal of it but voyger still had to pass close by other parts snakeing out around the delta quadrant.

2)Borg space is not all connected. Infact to the borg borders would be irrelvent anyway. Instead it is in pockets like mold.
The borg see a place they like and assimilate it and that then becomes borg space which explains why they are happy to go out there way to assimilate the federation, it would just become another pocket of borg space.

Also what about the Krenmin. They where next to borg space and had tecnology better than the federation and possed a threat to the borg. Surely they should have been assimilated by now?

Maybe when the timeline was reset the Krenim didn't pursue time weapons. To the Borg, they may not have had anything else worth assimilating.

Actually, I have a better question... HOW did Voyager know that Borg space was quite that vast? I doubt the probe they sent or their sensors would have been able to accurately detect the Borg THAT far ahead.

I tend to discount that for two reasons. First, they would have set a course that goes around Borg space, simply because it's the Borg. Before Seven of Nine, they had very few advantages they could use as defense against the Borg. A shortcut home is worthless if you are virtually certain your crew will be killed or assimilated.

Second, at the end of "BLOOD FEVER", Chakotay shows Janeway the Borg corpse. She seemed genuinely surprised at that, which means she didn't know they were around. Even if they had some idea the Borg came from the Delta Quadrant, it's so vast that they have no idea where they are based.

The whole concept of "Borg space" seems misleading. The Borg (as per all their appearances so far) are everywhere, have been everywhere for (as per "Q Who?") hundreds of thousands of years already and (as per "Dark Frontier") prefer to remain unseen so nobody can actually tell they are everywhere.

So why is there a region where they are not unseen in "Scorpion"? Is it just because that's where they are packed so densely that they can't help being seen? Or because their ongoing war with Species 8472 is a local high visibility event that temporarily creates the illusion of "Borg space"?

To be sure, all our heroes see in "Scorpion" is the approaching "face" of ever-more-intense Borg presence, the surface of a region where Borg planets are in evidence. There's no implied depth to their observation, just the 2D breadth of them establishing the "face" they now confront. And then they find the "nostril" of the Northwest Passage, again without any implied knowledge of depth, merely of position. They do not know how long the passage will take them.

It does make sense that Borg planets would be easier to detect than the secretive freespace assets like Cubes and Unimatrices...

Or they asked somebody. The other cultures native to the Delta Quadrant might have a vested interest in charting the latest Borg movements.

And the Borg, of course, don't really care and might actually welcome the competition and "evolution" of other cultures trying to find new ways to avoid and/or combat the Borg menace.

As for encountering ships outside "Borg Space", I assume the designation refers to the territory where there's nothing BUT Borg in terms of inhabited worlds or systems. You might still meet the Borg elsewhere (and given their transwarp capabilities that's not unlikely given the Queen's focus on Seven and Janeway) but there are plenty of other cultures around you could seek help from.

Hmm probably not half the DQ but a substantial portion of it-30-40% at least. Add the transwarp network and the Borg can launch attacks in most places throughout the Galaxy.

There isn't any evidence either on screen or in Beta Canon source that would indicate that.

It is stated in one novel though that if the Borg are not defeated when they were they would have conquered the Galaxy by 2600 or so.

In such circustances the Borg would most definitely embark on intergalactic travel.

In "The Gift", Seven refers to Borg access to / knowledge about Galactic Cluster Three, the home of Species 259. This is just about the only piece of terminology that could refer to things outside the Milky Way that are associated with the Borg somehow... Although Seven defines even that feature as "a transmaterial energy plane".
