Yes, references are made to them in a couple of episodes but they were never seen on screen as they did not have the budget for it. There is a mention of cetacean ops in 'Yesterdays Enterprise", a mention of an aquatics lab in "Genesis" and a direct reference to dolphins in the episode "The Perfect Mate".Wait, there were dolphins on the Enterprise D?!
Totally deserved. People shouldn't hold monkeys as pets in a household. They are wild animals. Not domesticated over countless generations like dogs and cats.
