Or TV show, given the ratings for anything she's been in. Let's not pretend why people are sticking up for her being in a movie, it's certaintly not her acting talent, diction, emoting, screen presence...etc
I'm a lot happier with this one doing what people have been asking for for years and spending time everywhere but Earth only for the Dr. Strange/Odin/Hela portion.
Asgard proper, Helhiem/Muspelhiem, the lesser realms, the Valkyries, all stuff we should have been seeing from the start.

I think the point was its somewhat successful, which doesn't mean it's a good show. And you were talking about ratings, which are a measure of success, not quality.
And I'll admit that something could be making it worth watching independent of her if that's the case, but making her out to be anything that holds up the Thor movies is ludicrous.

I'm not sure anyone was seriously suggesting that Darcy was the foundation upon which the franchise was based. But, yes, she provided an enjoyable degree of snark and comic relief.
And, honestly, when you're dealing with lofty, grandiose subject matter, which could potentially get a bit stuffy, it seldom hurts to have a sarcastic smart-aleck around to take the piss out of things.
The DCEU desperately needs a Darcy Lewis.

For me, I have enjoyed all the Thor movies. I had initially avoided the first Thor movie in theaters because I thought it would be stupid. But after watching it on Redbox, I really enjoyed it, and then became excited for a sequel. And for me, it met expectations ..it felt very cosmic to me , and enjoyed even more than the first.
And with all the stuff Chris Hemsworth has been in lately, I am looking even more forward to this....even more than Justice LEague.
It probably won't be one of my top 5 Marvel movies, but I fully expect to enjoy it, and will tune in for repeats on TV.

I think the DCEU isn't very good at this point (although JL looks interesting and WW could be great), but of all the things it does need, Darcy certainly isn't one of them. The thor movies would have been better without a Darcy. I can't think of a more useless, uninteresting recurring side character in the MCU. While I'm more happy that Jane is gone, its a nice side benefit that we'll probably never see darcy again.
Sometimes, I get the feeling that a lot of Marvel fans (or perhaps I should say the Marvel/Disney are threatened by the three movies released by DC Comics so far. These three movies signaled the end of the company's monopoly on a series of comic book movies based upon a collection of titles. The bashing for the DCEU has become utter ridiculous and excessive. I'm also beginning to suspect that those who had accused Disney/Marvel of paying off the critics to bad mouth ALL THREE DCEU movies that have been released so far . . . are right. Because this criticism has become over the top. It has now extended to "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League". And I also get the feeling that a good number of movie fans are buying this crap because it's the in thing to do. I had almost bought it myself.
When "Man of Steel", "Batman v. Superman" and "Suicide Squad" first hit the theaters, I was reluctant to see all three, because I had stupidly accepted the bad opinions about them. Yet, I overcame my reluctance and went to see them, anyway. And when I finally saw those three movies, I enjoyed them. All of them. Very much. And that's when I realized that a film critic's opinion is worth dog shit. No more. I'm simply going to form my own opinion of any movie I am interested in seeing. And I refuse to be some mindless drone and accept the views of others simply because it's the in-thing to do.
Warner Bros./DCEU will be releasing two movies this year. Disney/MCU will be releasing three. I plan to see all five this year. And I'll be damned if I pay attention to any film critics or movie goer . . . until after I have seen these movies.
By the way, I will miss Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis. I was never one of those fans who believe that a male or female co-star to a comic book hero or heroine had to be a "kick-ass" character as well.
I could point out that absolutely no one has been paid off to say bad things about the DCEU, they're just bad movies (well, Suicide squad was fun, but a bad adaptation of the property) and that making some conspiracy theory about it is ridiculous. But, I'm not getting into an argument. I think Wonder Woman could be legitimately great (primarily because the director doesn't follow Zach Snyder's philosophy and all her interviews seem to show a person who thinks about as opposite of him and Ayers as you can get on the topic of heroes), and Justice League's trailer actually has me more excited for it then I am for GotG 2 or Spider-Man Homecoming.That's all I have to say about that, especially in the Thor: ragnarok thread.
How do you know? I don't think so. Are you a professional film critic? Regardless of whether you're a film critic or not, what makes you think that I'm automatically going to regard your opinions as facts? Because that is what they are . . . an opinion and not a fact. Frankly, this DCEU bashing is starting to make me sick to my stomach. And if it keeps up, I might find myself truly disliking the MCU. I've already been disappointed by its two releases in 2016.
If the MCU is defensive, it's probably due to the DC Fans constantly saying how "childish" their movies are and how they lack "realism" and how they kept shoving the Dark Knight in their faces for years.

Meanwhile, the XCU and Sony's Spidey flick continue to fly under the radar. Sony constantly draws attention to itself with their half-baked ideas and their alleged plans to divorce from the MCU after Homecoming. The X Films though, shrug.
