Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Got this month's ships in the mail finally. Eaglemoss skipped a few more issues on me again. To go along with the missing Federation Holoship, I now am missing the Vahklas and the E-J. My subscription started with the first round of American subscriptions, how am I missing ships due to backorders? Shouldn't the ships be ready when the initial subscription should be mailing them?

Eaglemoss creates its production run for each model months in advance of their release.

Say when they make the order they have 4500 subscribers and 5000 pre orders from retailers who actually place their orders months in advance as well.

To keep costs controlled say the production run is 12000. Enough to cover orders, and a certain rate of failure. Ships from the production order that don't pass quality control.

Well subscriptions are in flux. Some drop, but they still are taking new subscribers, and those people aren't limited on only getting two ships a month as they come out. And they can vary it month to month.

As an example I have 3 subscriptions 1st was 2 months after start. 2nd about 8 months after start. 3rd a year and a half after start. But I have now got both my first and second current to those who started when the collection began.

They also give new subscribers the option of what issue they wish to start with. So the number of subscribers that eaglemoss is aware of 5 months ( a guess) when they place the order, might change both plus or minus by the time the ships should be sent out.

Then what if quality control eats up normally 5% if an order on average. But imagine something like the 1701-J maybe hitting a 20% failure rate. That would eat up more then the expected inventory.

Based on what Ben has stated for the production time, I would guess that they make their production order before they get their rental orders ( and again those are ordered in advance typically by a month or two). They could get a surge of orders for specific ships.

And simple business if your short your retail agents will normally come first. Most subscribers place an order for one of each ships. Retail agents can order double digits of each ship.

Businesses understand that they are more likely to keep the reoccurring business of a subscriber versus the average person making reoccurring purchases in stores if their is a delay in stock.

Yep, I'm missing the Vahklas and -J as well and just got the Romulan Scout and Saratoga yesterday. Very weird. Time for a call to customer support!

Update: Just got off the phone with CS. Those two issues are apparently "out of stock" (I'm guessing they always were) and should be available for distribution by "the end of the month". So, for what it's worth, hopefully we'll see them in a couple weeks.
I got a letter from eaglemoss today. It was the notice about the replacement shuttle.

It's a nice touch from eaglemoss. I don't know if it's because they realized some didn't get them, or was a result of my calling them to ask.
Interestingly, I just got my shuttles last week and that letter was in the box with them! I am glad they're staying on top of such things. They do experience glitches from time to time, but they do seem to make an attempt to make things right.

Great news! First photos of the fan favorite litverse ship the Luna-class USS Titan (NCC-80102) AKA Captain Riker's ship!

Dedicated to the effort made by 8o5 of TheTrekCollective to have this ship made.

That's a really nice model, and it's cool that an essentially non-canon ship got made. Great for the designer who won the contest. Maybe they'll do the Franz Joseph fleet when they get low on real ships!

What's the thing on the top? The Titan would look better without it.

IIRC, it's a long range sensor pod. Sean Tourangeau would be able to better answer that, if he's still around. Haven't seen him in these parts for a while. He used to be called "@Titan Designer", IIRC, and his alias doesn't appear to have seen any activity since Jul 29, 2016. Probably got tired of people trolling him, constantly telling him it looks like an Akira rip-off. :(

Removable mission pod carrying specialized scientific sensors for exploration and research missions and/or weapons pod with multiple torpedo launcher systems.

Well, it looks like the love child of the Akira-class with a Sovereign-class starship but that makes it a succesful design of the post FC era IMO. And it's a beauty nevertheless! Even though it isn't a canon ship I'm glad Eaglemoss is making it!

^ The Titan is similar to the Miranda and Nebula classes in that it incorporates design elements from a "hero" ship (in this case, the Sovereign class) complete with underslung nacelles.

The Titan, truthfully, doesn't excite me that much. Don't get me wrong, they did a really good job on the model, from the look of it, but I'm not really a fan of the design of the ship itself. I just don't think the long oval saucer of the Sovereign lends itself to a "Nebula" configuration the way the wide oval saucer of the Galaxy did.

The ones coming up I'm looking forward to, are the Daedalus, the D5, and the Jenolen, plus probably the BoP in attack configuration. (I'll probably pick up the Kyushu and the Rhode Island too, when they come to my area, if I get the chance).

Beyond that, I'm sill hoping for a few more off the wishlist I posted on Facebook a few days ago (in no particular order): Degra's ship, the 23rd century Tholian ship (from remastered TOS), the Lakul, the Merchantman, the Groumall, the Jem'Hadar battleship, the Xhosa, and the Bajoran starship (not to be confused with the one coming up).

Which Bajoran starship? Sorry for my ignorance but they have so many vessels.

I'd also like the Lakul.

This one:

http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Bajoran_starship

They're both very similar (both have a wedge shape), but the one on my wish list has nacelles, and doesn't have a "head" on the front, like the other one does. It first appeared as Tahna Los' ship in "Past Prologue". Unlike the other, the model was specifically designed as a Bajoran ship for DS9, rather than a recycle from a TNG ship-of-the-week.

The one coming up is the one from "Ensign Ro". That one was a reuse of the Jovis. Funnily, another reuse was the smuggler's ship from "Unification", which they're also making. (It was also made into a Micro Machine as the Numiri ship from Voyager)

Both ships were used in stock footage of ships at DS9 in various episodes.

Thanks for the heads up there, was really helpful letting people know an hour and a quarter before the deadline on a Sunday night.
