A BIG Spoiler Is Coming

Considering Sean Pertwee has said repeatedly that wouldn't portray The Third Doctor (any of his father's characters), I highly doubt that one. David Bradley as The First Doctor is possible, but I doubt it. I hadn't noticed Susan's photo in either trailer. Do you have a screen cap?

As to Moffat's proclamation that the big spoiler will "melt your brains," we'll see. Moffatt lies and Moffatt overexaggerates. The spoiler is probably shocking, but probably not nearly as shocking as he's making it out to be. :p

My brain would indeed melt at the sight of Sean Pertwee as the Third Doctor, but it won't happen.

And really, like Emh said, its Moffat. Its probably nowhere near as shocking as he makes it out to be. No, really.

I'm wondering about the phrase "fills a gap in Time Lord history." What could that mean, I wonder....?

There's been three main rumours recently:
1) David Bradley as the 1st Doctor
2) Sean Pertwee as the 3rd Doctor
and
3) Carole Ann Ford back as Susan.

I can't see any of those as "brain melting." Casual viewers wouldn't recognize any of them.

It's the trailer for episode two. The opening three episodes are Dalek-related, yes? So, maybe it's a reveal of someone familiar allied with the Daleks.

The Master? Two Masters? (Why not? Let's have Simm and Gomez team up!)

Clara?

River?

It seems to me that if Moffat wants brains to melt, then the reveal of the Doctor working with the Daleks would be a shock. Twelve as the Dalek Emperor would be wild. Tennant or Smith? Probably not likely.

What if John Hurt filmed a small sequence before he died?

Hurt reprising the War Doctor as an agent of the Daleks would definitely melt my brain.

I am shocked. SHOCKED by these brain melting rumours about the 2017 season and wish to start my own:

1) The Doctor regenerates into a woman in the last episode.
2) Tom Baker back as the digitally de-aged 4th Doctor.
3) Chris Eccleston back as the 9th Doctor.

Sorry, not the Trailer, it's from a clip from the episode.
Ah, okay. The video has been removed in that article but the photo is still there.

What if John Hurt filmed a small sequence before he died?

Hurt reprising the War Doctor as an agent of the Daleks would definitely melt my brain.
That would definitely do it.

3) Chris Eccleston back as the 9th Doctor.
That would definitely do it as well.

As for my own speculation, maybe a team-up with The Eighth Doctor? Or perhaps Jack and River finally teaming up?

You want a brain melter? Here you go:

SUSAN working with the Daleks. And the Doctor's first shocked words upon seeing her...

"I killed you..."

Since Moffat seems reluctant to stomp on Big Finish's work, Susan and the Daleks seems unlikely, as they killed her son.

I think it's actually a Rest Of The Series trailer.

I had to go back and reread the article. I think you're right.

Maybe. I have a hard time picturing anyone, outside of maybe ten thousand people worldwide, caring about Susan Foreman enough to have their brains melt.

I feel like it has to be something that the millions of viewers will grok instantly, and then grok it hard enough to go, "Oh, damn!"

Alex Kingston wearing a pregnancy belly under her outfit? That would be kinda brain-melting, too.

I'm sure its going to end up not being that big a deal, but I'm still excited to learn about it. I'm excited for the whole season, really. Its been way too long since we've gotten new Doctor Who, and if the spoiler is something actually mind melting, that will just be a nice surprise.

I think the last time Moffat said people would lose their minds over one of his reveals, it was the reveal that River was Amy's daughter at the end of "A Good Man Goes to War." Except that pretty much everyone had figured that one out or, at the very least, decided it was true, and the cliffhanger was less than thrilling. The preceding episode, with Amy melting because she was a ganger, ended on a much stronger cliffhanger, and, in retrospect, that would have been a far stronger mid-season cliffhanger than the one we got.

I can see that being a let down (I saw all that after the fact, so I'd already been spoiled about River's identity by the time I got there). I'm not surprised Moffat isn't very successful at pulling off big "spoilers". Still, like I aid, at this point a mind melting event is just icing on the cake. I just want Series 10 to start, and hopefully end Capaldi's run with a bang.

I doubt Barrowman would keep quiet about working on Who again.

Important gap in Time Lord history?

Romana.

What happened to depose her as President and install Rassilon? The early days of the War? Perhaps the War Doctor was responsible (in his first days he went full-on with the "Warrior" theme and wanted a more gung-ho President), driving a wedge between him and his former companion?

Can't think of any other real gaps that might shock viewers - First Doctor between leaving Gallifrey and ending up in Totters Lane? More Eighth Doctor stuff before Night of the Doctor? Gap between end of the classic series and the TV movie?
