WB's Justice League 2017 movie pre-discussion thread

And somehow all this proves that Geoff Johns worked on Green Lantern… exactly how?

I don't recall the exact issue number but I'm almost positive either the Cinefex or SciFiNow article about the movie discusses how it went badly over-budget due to a late rewrite and on-set changes by Johns which resulted in multiple effects houses working overtime.

My understanding on Green Lantern was that Johns did a page one rewrite to fix the script, and then it was burchered in the editing room because WB got cold feet and wanted something else.

That's what I was asking. Thank you both for your answers.

I'm a little surprised we didn't at least get a hint at Superman's presence. For a while now I've been wondering if he was going to be another Luke in TFA, and this trailer makes that look likely.
Do we know how much filming Henry Cavill did?

Cavil did a bunch of weight and combat training while they were in the UK. He'll likely appear in the final act, for his resurrection.

Snyder talked about Superman in this interview.

So what about Superman, who was in a casket at the end of Dawn of Justice? “It’s hard to have a Justice League without Superman. That’s how I feel about it,” Snyder says with a laugh.

He knew BvS was going to act as a Justice League prequel, and Snyder remembers early discussions about figuring out what part the Man of Steel needs to play.

“It was always a super-intriguing concept to me to have this opportunity to have him make that sacrifice but also have him be this, in a weird sort of way, the why of Justice League: What do you do now with him? What does the team think? What does the world need?” Snyder says. “All that comes into play. It’s fun for us but it’ll be interesting for audiences what we do with him.”

As mentioned above, Cavill did a ton of weight training to get in shape for his stunt work on the movie, so his resurrection will likely happen around the end of the second act so he can help the team defeat Steppenwolf. I imagine the next trailer for the movie (probably attached to Wonder Woman or Dunkirk) will end with a money shot of Superman revealing himself to the group, not unlike the Nimoy stinger in the final trailer for Star Trek.

ROFL

KEEP CALM and REMEMBER . . .

It's just a trailer. It's snippets of this and that put together to generate interest in the movie. It's not the entire story, or even events shown in order. It's a freaking commercial.

So everybody take a breath, and if you're too stressed, go to your safe space.

Sheesh.

Yeah, I think Superman will be the third act reveal. At the moment things look the worst for the League and they've essentially lost their battle, Superman will appear and rally the heroes for the final act.

Yes, that's cliched as hell, but I don't think anyone's expecting high art from Justice League. :)

On that count, it's an utter failure in my eyes - it looks even darker and more drab than BvS. This could well end up a legit box office bomb, especially assuming Part 2 will be even approximately more of the same. Yeesh.

It won't bomb, by any means. Just won't make the money a JL movie should make done by a better creative team.

Like the last movie, any movie starring Batman AND Superman AND Wonder Woman should have shattered records everywhere! However...

Well, if the Wonder woman movie does well (especially critically), it could at least boost Justice league's opening numbers

Isn't that an awful state of the movies to be in? Hopeful that Wonder Woman will boost Justice League??

There's no way I would have believed any of this 20 years ago. No way at all.

I have to admit, if something along these lines doesn't happen, I'll be kind of disappointed. I'm expecting the end of the movie to be Superman showing up at the last second to save the rest of the League. In my mind last shot would be Steppenwolf collapsing in front of the camera to reveal a smiling Superman.

Ok, I'm thinking you must have watched a different trailer than I did.

Trailer looked great, only thing a bit off for me was Cyborg. Looking forward to seeing this!

Haven't read any stress in this topic myself.... Just people giving some opinions. Honestly, looking at some of the 'debats' this forum has seen, everything is quite tranquil.

BvS and Suicide Squad made boatloads of money in large part due to the novelty of the setups and the introductions of Batfleck and Harley, with Superman and Will Smith thrown in. Once the masses saw the movies, however, many weren't at all impressed. Wonder Woman will still get a novelty bump due to its setting and general character interest, but if people read this movie as "BvS 2 (minus Superman)"... Warner execs should be nervous, says I.
