This forum needs more good Felinoids, like the Caitians and Korlivilar. The others to; IF they can behave themselves.

The term felinoid has not been mentioned on screen, but has been used in various background and production materials. (citation needededit) It was descriptive of a species that evolved from feline origins, and retain cat-like physical traits as opposed to primates, who followed a primate evolutionary pattern, or insectoids, who were descended from insects.

There were three known species that are felinoids: Caitians, (TAS) Kzinti, (TAS: "The Slaver Weapon") and Vedalans. (TAS: "The Jihad")

The Starfleet Battles game universe includes an additional race of felinoids known as the "Lyrans" ,but they are also represented as being distantly related to the Kzinti as well.

I see a bunch of Bing searches, and odd Wiki links.

I'm not sure if there's a thread here, but I'll give you a chance to pull this out of the fire.

Other than you like cat-people, anything to discuss?

IDIC.
Infinite Diversity, in Infinite Combination.

I had noticed, in an older thread now considered 'dead', some members wanting to know more about the felinoid sapient species of the Star Trek Universe. For those whose questions were not yet answered, it seemed logical to create a thread for that discussion, rather than co-opt a thread that, while related, was clear in its focus; one individual Caitian of which many are fond, not felinoids in general.

The subject is muddied as the Ferasan appear only in Star Trek Online, a licensed property, but not film or television and therefore, are not Canon. The aforementioned Korlivilar, are made for the ISC in the Star Fleet Universe, which comprises multiple games, but is primarily a Fanon work.

Initially, none of these races were related, except for SFU's 'Lyrans' being related to the Kzinti. Since TNG established almost all humanoids in the Milky Way Galaxy having been 'seeded' by the proto-humanoids, and thus related, STO has done some similar plots in their storylines, having previously unrelated reptilians, including Saurian and Gorn, being related, they created the Ferasan as a more savage and brutal offshoot from ancient Caitians.

As to how closely Caitians and Ferasan are related to the other felinoid races, Cryptic Studios doesn't want to develop it that much beyond what they touched upon, and leaving players some reign to draw their own conclusions. Also they don't want to overdo the 'in-house canon' of the game, when CBS can do something totally contradicting what was done/said in STO. My 2 Cents, is there 'may' be one or two missing links that tie some of these species together, it won't necessarily change how any given race regards or acts towards its kin. In any event, to me, since they all poses a roughly humanoid form they reasonably share varying degrees of the genetic material seeded by the proto-humanoids, we're all related, humanoids and felinoids.

At least that's my take on it.
The links were meant as helpful starting points for others to learn about the races that exist, canon and non-canon, so they should find the answers to most of their questions. Additional questions & discussion can be held here.
I'm sorry if I was less than articulate or clear in meaning.
I was up all night multitasking and still am. I was simply trying to get there information out as efficiently as possible.
