Trek's lowest moment

Yeah, I'd definitely say Trek's lowest point was "Planet of the Scary Black Men (Hide the White Women)." I cannot begin to describe how racist and offensive this episode is or how many anti-black stereotypes it supports.
It's not racist. Your statement has nothing to do with the episode at all. There is currently a discussion about it on the STNG forum.

A lot of Trek's lamest moments ever are still in the final year of TOS: "Plato's Stepchildren," "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" et al.

Star Trek Nemesis.

It killed the franchise for over a decade.
Whether you like the movie or not doesn't bother me. Your characterization of it does.

Nemesis did not kill the franchise as a whole. It's failure was the culmination of several shows with decreasing ratings, less fan interest, more scifi shows/movies available and "franchise fatigue". I like the movie(not love) but I can see why people didn't attend at the box office (the dvd/vhs sales at the time though set a record for all Star Trek movies). This fatigue continued with Enterprise and finally to me, the "dark age of Trek" lasted from 2005 to about 2009. Not 10 years, but 4.

The other issue is the "dark age" itself. Even during that fallow period, I kept pointing out on this BBS that other forms of trek continued, though all with less popularity. Merchandising, books, comics all kept going...not bad for a "dark age" really. I even claimed it would make a comeback, first with movies, then TV within a 10 year period. At the time, the "Trek is dead" mantra reigned supreme and a lot of people scoffed. :-)

My vote as well. Only Voyager, season 2 rivals it for me for sheer awfulness.

I thought those were some of TOS fans favorite s3 episodes. I've heard people gush over how powerful they are.

To be fair, I don't think we can reduce a whole season of a series to a "Trek low point." Voyager season 2 had Projections, Meld, The Thaw, Death Wish, Tuvix, Resolutions, and Deadlock. Season 4 of DS9 was on at this time also, and this was the year of Star Trek: First Contact.

They powerfully bonk you on the head with the unsubtlety of the points they're getting across.

Can't say much for the writing quality, but Voyager S2's production value was the most ambitious Berman-era ever got.

Let That Be Your Last Battlefield isn't bad, but it is rather preachy. Plato's Stepchildren is terrible. You know you're in trouble when the highlight of the episode is Shatner pretending to be a horse.

I truly feel there are much lower moments for the franchise than the third season of TOS. A weaker season of one of the best shows ever made for television is hardly a low point.

Plato's Stepchildren is one of my absolute least favorite episodes of TOS, but even it, after a recent re-watch, had some very interesting characters and concepts that I still find superior to what other series offered up later.

I think he meant 'slut-shaming' although apparently 'slug-shaming' is a thing, but I won't describe what it apparently is.

Well morals aside promiscuous behavior does increase the risk of unwanted pregnancies and STDs.

As it is my opinions on such issues are not the issue here.

Some other low moments-every single DS9 episode with a Vulcan it's insulting.

For the Uniform-I still can't believe all the Maquis survived Sisko gassing them.

Jake Sisko's girl obsession-good lord man people who watch Trek don't relate to that. It also annoying.

Kira not getting disciplined for her attitude, fits, and general insubordination. I'm not sure how Sisko tolerated her tantrums.
