It's hard for me...because TMP, TSFS and TFF are actually ALL favorite movies of mine.

TMP gets beaten the crap beaten out of it by the more general population. I for one think it's a great movie. TSFS is such a fun, energetic, heartfelt adventure and I could never figure out why it isn't considered a classic. TFF is not a good movie by any stretch, but it has a ton of heart and I always love it for what it was trying to be. It's a bad movie, but it's actually pretty good Star Trek, for whatever that's worth.

I voted for TSFS.

I'm one of those unspeakable ones that voted Nemesis.

It seems most of the hatred Nemesis generates comes from minor canon violations, rather than anything else.
It can't have the worst plot, that's The Voyage Home by roughly 70000 light years.
It can't have the worst pace, that's The Motion Picture.
It can't have the worst visuals, that has to be The Final Frontier.
It can't be the most boring, that's The Search for Spock/The Motion Picture.
It does have the worst costuming. I don't know what was up with the Reman/Shinzon's purple PVC outfits, but that's downright ridiculous.

It's not the best Trek movie, but come on: TMP, TSFS, TFF; TVH, Generations and Insurrection are all worse.

I think Nemesis is certainly underrated. No way in hell is it better than TMP, TSFS, TFF or TVH though. Not by a long shot.

That said, it may be my favorite TNG movie.

I think it's either TMP or TSFS. I like TFF more as a whole film than either of those or but it deserves it's reputation.

I just rewatched both The Voyage Home and The Undiscovered Country. I'd say I enjoyed the latter more, but only as a fantasy/Star Wars type movie, I just don't see it as Star Trek at all. The story could have been set in any number of overrated fantasy shows, like Game of Thrones and the likes. Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable light action/conspiracy flick. Not a fan, however, of how it blatantly draws parallels with the collapse of the USSR and the whole theme that comes with it. "There are bad people on both sides that try to prevent peace from happening" is a weak idea, but to enjoy the movie it's best not to read too much into it.

The Voyage Home at least does depend on a Sci Fi aspect and in that sense is probably the closest to the greatness achieved by the TMP. However, I don't think it was well executed, the story is great, the premise is great, but something about it's aesthetics, the uniforms, is just weak. There are fun scenes here and there, but doesn't have that rewatchable quality that TMP has.

It's hard judging these movies because of how different they are. TMP is a category of its own that no other ST movie has been able to even scratch, maybe TVH did, but failed in that regard, while the other movies are just fun action flicks and as such they're all okay.

Beyond and TUC are probably the funnest to watch light action flicks in the Trek universe.

I only consider TMP and TWOK truly Star Trek. TMP is the more underrated as TWOK is rightly regarded as one of the best if not the best of the films.

TMP is grossly underrated. It's a masterpiece of science fiction. TUC and TWOK are better films, but not by much.

GEN is also very underrated. I think that's an incredibly strong film. I really do not understand why that movie isn't rated higher by most people.

I think GEN has a lot going for it. I think I really grate at the Data emotion chip subplot (seems like every TNG movie felt as though a Data subplot was needed, which it was not).

TMP has taken a LOT of unnecessary flack over the years.

Yeah my girlfriend describes post-emotion chip Data as "all yucks." Like he just became comic relief after that. I don't mind it though. Granted I think a lot of my love for GEN comes from Kirk's presence, not the TNG stuff necessarily.

TMP needs a reevaluation from critics and fans. I think it's so powerful.

I've always loved TMP. Nothing infuriates more than reading or watching some hack amature reviewer bashing it, using all the tired cliched criticisms like "Slow Motion Picture" or "Where Nomad Has Gone Before".

Everything up to Picard entering the Nexus is excellent, up there with any of the movies IMO (ok maybe not the D getting taken out by the old BoP, but it's still an exciting scene) after that the film completely falls apart into a confusing, badly written mess for me. Overall I still like it though, and it still holds my personal record for watching a film on the big screen - four times. I guess it's underrated a little, I'd watch it over Insurrection any day, and I don't think FC is much better either. Nemesis is my favourite TNG movie.

Agree on TMP though which is constantly pushing for top honours in my list. A flawed masterpiece.

During my rewatch of the Trek movies last year, I realized I enjoyed GEN more than FC. GEN had more interesting ideas. FC, while very cool and entertaining as hell, is really just Die Hard in Space.

It certainly looks and feels more epic to me than FC, which suffers massively from TV-grade sets and direction. Generations, was and remains a stunning looking film with (bar the re-use of the BoP explosion) far superior FX and cinematography. FC barely gets the nod just from it's entertainment factor these days and has slipped down the rankings for me.

I have to say TSFS - great villain, good story, great moments, some rollicking action - but yet not a lot of attention from Trek fans.

For under rated..The Search for Spock.
To me it was THE movie event of 1984..even over 2010 and David Lynch's flawed Dune..

When TVH was released, all of a sudden, TSFS started getting the short end of the stick..
Don't get me wrong, TVH is a great Star Trek film..just not a Space Opera adventure in the vein of TWOK or TSFS.
