New DS9 Documentary

Also I wonder if the Novelverse developments will get a mention, of course now the story has moved Far Beyond the Stars of the finale. DS9 was such a good story but it has been pushed down the line of popularity behind other shows. There are so many things to discuss.

I kinda doubt it, since it seems like this doc is centered more on the people who made the series.

It will be very interestng to see what there vision is for taking the series forward. And will they be doing it I wonder as if it was 1999 (ie literally the next television season after a summer break) or today (a reunion series)?

I've been wondering the same thing myself. Either possibility is really interesting to me.

I was listening to the Engage podcasts recent interview with Ira Steven Behr. Earlier, when I'd heard that anecdote about how they forgot Quark in their season 8 writers room, I assumed that meant they fully forgot to discuss him at all. Ira clarified he was in their outlined premiere, they just forgot to give him his own arc. It sounded like he meant arc for the episode (not the season), which doesn't seem like much of an omission to me... DS9 was a show where the spotlight moved around, very few episodes had arcs for every character.

A few last updates:

They've clarified that the Quark shirt will only include Rules of Acquisition that actually appeared on the show and not from anywhere else, including the novels.

Another 25 signed complete series DVD sets are now available, although for some reason it's now $300 instead of the original $250.

Lastly, part two of the daydreams:

I love the idea for Molly O'Brien: Jem'Hadar Slayer.

The Rules of Acquisition is probably because of the difficulty of getting rights from the fans who wrote the fanfic...

My DVDs are still in good shape, so I can't quite justify getting another set, even signed. I'll wait for the HD 4K set :)

The tiny snippets they've shown in the crowdfunding video, or in articles, suggest that it's 20 years later, or so. Ronald D. Moore said he could see Kira going back to try to rescue Sisko, after all this time.

I should probably be reaching out to them directly about this, but...

I made a...larger...donation yesterday using a masked email service, and didn't receive any sort of confirmation. However, I have since received another email from IndiGoGo referencing my donation, so it appears that at least emails directly from them are working normally, and my donation didn't get "lost in the mail".

Should I be concerned about the fact that I didn't receive any sort of direct confirmation?

You could check the backers tab to see if a donation in that amount and/or the name you specified, was made around the time you sent it yesterday. But, yeah, they're pretty responsive to questions too, so you might want to ask.

I am listed there...though it took a silly amount of time to get the backers tab to go far enough back to see it (I may suggest a simple list of backers be available). I'm more worried that they might be emailing me and I may not be getting it.

I'll probably fire off a question later. I'd feel like a moron if I didn't get an email from them, especially as I know the email masking has occasionally disagreed with some websites and such.

ETA - Props to Indiegogo for a very quick response time!

Well, I meant ask a question on the comments thread. The DS9 Documentary campaign team responds quickly.

I wish I could've gotten them, but $200 is just too steep for cookies, no matter how good they are.

I just noticed that they added a few last items:

  • Be the envy of every simple tailor with this piece of (wearable) art! Andy Robinson will sign & number one of our original ’Simple Tailor’ Shirts and have it professionally framed for your wall as an example of perfect craftsmanship. You’ll also get a signed Elim Garak Warp Factor Series 5 action figure for good measure...for a whopping $700.

  • Got a sweet tooth, or just sweet on everyone's favorite dabo girl? Check out our new Chocolate Tour with Chase Masterson! ‘Leeta’ herself will treat you & a guest to a personalized tour of your city's finest chocolatiers! Available in LONDON, L.A. or VEGAS, this outing can be tailored to your particular indulgences (ice cream? coffee?) & will include a multi-stop event that's sure to be one-of-a-kind, and plenty memorable for the adventurer and foodie....for a whopping $900. And they're all gone.

  • And finally, Terry Farrell is parting with another rare DS9 Crew Jacket & Baseball Cap originally given to cast & crew upon the season wrap. This jacket (note: different style than our contest version!) boasts unique buckle-clip design with logo on the pocket, lists size as “SMALL” but comfortably fits t-shirt size L (US). Great to wear around town or for the avid DS9 collector! Includes personal letter of authenticity from Terry with a special photo and story behind the items. Only one available! For $2500 and it's gone, too.
That would explain how they managed to get over $600,000 in the final hours, which I didn't expect.

I would seriously considering getting the Andy Robinson pledge, but $700 is just too damn steep.

I also assume there's a bunch of people like me, pledging a little extra now that I know what all the perks are. I wanted to wait before picking up some t-shirts in case something else came up that I wanted. :)

True. I haven't actually gotten the Garak shirt yet and I might just before the campaign closes. I've been debating the Vegas package as well, but I'm probably not going for that.
